In the display device according to the present disclosure, a linear operation mode, in which an image is changed by tracing an operation surface substantially along a straight line, and a circular-arc operation mode, in which an image is changed by tracing the operation surface substantially along a circular arc, are set as operation modes for changing images displayed on the operation surface by tracing an operation surface of a touch panel. A CPU extracts the characteristic manner in which the operation surface is traced based on information acquired from the touch panel when the operation surface is being traced, decides which one of the linear operation mode and the circular-arc operation mode as the operation mode based on the extracted characteristics is the operation mode, and changes to the other operation mode in response to a change in the characteristic manner in which the operation surface is traced.

A music reproduction apparatus includes a reproduction section for reproducing user-selected music piece data, a generation section for generating control information including music piece information identifying a music piece reproduced by the reproduction section and reproduced position information indicative of a currently-reproduced position, a modulation section for outputting, on the basis of the generated control information, an audio signal of a predetermined frequency band for carrying the control information, and an output section for transmitting to outside the audio signal generated by the modulation section. An information processing apparatus stores a plurality of sets of displaying content, receives the audio signal, demodulates the control information from the received audio signal to extract the music piece information and reproduced position information, identifies displaying content from the extracted music piece information, and displays a part of the identified displaying content in accordance with the extracted reproduced position information.

A storage section stores therein one or more sets of music content and/or function executing programs, at least a part of the sets of music content and/or function executing programs being set in a non-usable state at least in an initial state. An audio signal containing additional information is received from an external electronic audio apparatus, and a determination is made as to whether the additional information satisfies a predetermined condition. If the additional information satisfies the predetermined condition, any of the sets of music content and/or function executing programs, stored in the storage section, that is currently set in the non-usable state is updated to a usable state. A usage right identification section refers to the order information of the song data containing the performance data to be reproduced, for identifying the usage right of the content of the music performance in terms of the purchase or preview. A model music data inputting unit inputs model music data containing music score display data representing a music score to be displayed of a model music piece for practice, performance data representing a musical performance which coincides with the music score to be displayed, and performance data particularly prepared for playing back with musical emotions the tones of the model music piece for practice. When the practice mode is switched on, the display device displays a music score of the model music piece for practice, and the performance inputted by the user is compared with the performance data coinciding with the music score for evaluation. A selected span of a music composition data file containing note data in the MIDI format which discriminates twelve notes per octave is examined with respect to respective tonalities to find an optimum tonality. Out of all the notes contained in the selected span, the number of notes that fall on the intrinsic notes of a tonality is counted with respect to each of the tonalities. The tonality which has the greatest count of intrinsic notes is determined to the optimum tonality. When the music composition is transposed, the chord names are altered according to the amount of the transposition. Then, the altered chord names are subjected to adjustment in expression according to the musical grammar. Accidental signs are adequately determined from among enharmonic notations.
