A method of producing an air filter includes a first step of preparing a tow band and a second step of obtaining a filter medium layer that includes first fibers obtained by applying tension to the tow band to spread the tow band and the first fibers having an average fiber diameter of 5 μm or more and 50 μm or less and second fibers disposed in gaps between the first fibers and having an average fiber diameter of 30 nm or more and 1 μm or less. The second fibers are drawn out from the particulate resin by drawing the particulate resin, and the particulate resin is drawn by separating the first fibers from each other so that a gap is formed between the first fibers during the spreading of the tow band.

An air filter medium includes a resin having a plurality of first convex portions protruding from a first surface of the filter medium in an air flow direction relative to the filter medium and a plurality of second convex portions protruding from a second surface that is a back surface of the first surface of the filter medium in the air flow direction. The total projected area of the plurality of first convex portions and the plurality of second convex portions in a case where an entirety of the filter medium is projected in the air flow direction is 50% or more and 100% or less of a projected area of the entirety of the filter medium in a case where the entirety of the filter medium is projected in the air flow direction.

A correcting system includes an acquisition unit, a storage unit, and a correction unit. The acquisition unit acquires information indicating first capture efficiency of a filter for first microscopic particles. The storage unit stores correction data to correct the first capture efficiency to second capture efficiency of the filter for second microscopic particles. The correction unit corrects the first capture efficiency acquired by the acquisition unit to the second capture efficiency based on the correction data.

An air filter medium that collects dust in gas includes a main collection layer and a pre-collection layer that has a lower collection efficiency of NaCl particles having a particle size of 0.3 &#x3bc;m than the main collection layer, is disposed on an upstream side of an air flow with respect to the main collection layer, and has water repellency.

Provided are a filter medium for an air filter capable of having extended life even when composed of embossable material. The filter medium () has a tensile elongation of 10% or greater, and includes a main collection layer () having a filing rate of 5% to 15%, a thickness of 0.35 mm to 0.70 mm, and a peak in a fiber diameter distribution at less than 1.0 &#x3bc;m and a peak at 1.0 &#x3bc;m or greater. An average fiber diameter of small fiber diameters of less than 1.0 &#x3bc;m is from 0.1 &#x3bc;m to less than 0.8 &#x3bc;m, and an average fiber diameter of large fiber diameters of 1.0 &#x3bc;m or greater is from 1.2 &#x3bc;m to less than 3.0 &#x3bc;m. A volume ratio of the fibers having the small fiber diameter to the fibers having the large fiber diameter is from 30:70 to 80:20.

An embossed air filter filtration medium has at least one porous film and a plurality of air-permeable support materials supporting the at least one porous film. The least one porous film includes a fibril-formable polytetrafluoroethylene, a non-fibril-forming and non-hot-melt-processable component, and a non-fibril-forming and hot-melt-processable component having a melting point below 320&#xb0; C. Surfaces of both sides of the air filter filtration medium are formed by two air-permeable support materials of the air-permeable support materials. The air filter filtration medium has a plurality of embossed projections. The embossed air filter filtration medium may be part of a filter pack, which may be part of an air filter unit. The embossed air filter filtration medium is manufactured by laminating air-permeable support materials on the at least one porous film and embossing the air filter filtration medium to form the projections.

A filter medium for an air filter collecting dust in an air flow has a principal collection layer including a porous polytetrafluoroethylene film. A surface of the filter medium is provided with a plurality of embossed projections. Preferably, a processed filter medium maintains a zigzag shape by pleating an unprocessed filter medium to create mountain folds and valley folds. Preferably, an air filter unit includes such a processed filter medium and a frame body holding the processed filter medium.
