There are provided an optical receptacle having an optical fiber including a first portion on another end surface side, a third portion on one end surface side, and a second portion between the first portion and the third portion; a core diameter at the first portion is smaller than the core diameter at the third portion; the core diameter at the second portion increases from the first portion side toward the third portion side; a first elastic member is provided between the optical fiber and an inner wall of a through-hole; a holder holds the another end surface side of a fiber stub; and the sleeve holds the one end surface side of the fiber stub.

Optical receptacle and optical transceiver

A ferrule containing an optical fiber, the ferrule having an end surface which is polished into a convex spherical configuration on a side to be optically connected to one other member, and a foreign matter movement suppressor is provided with the end surface for suppressing movement of foreign matter moving from an outer circumferential portion of the ferrule toward a central portion of the end surface due to inserting and removing the ferrule. The foreign matter movement suppressor includes a first portion of the end surface which does not directly contacting the one other member, and an average height of a surface of the first portion is 0.305 micrometers or more, and a skewness of the surface of the first portion is &#x2212;0.2 or less.

Optical receptacle, ferrule, and plug ferrule

A pigtail-type optical receptacle includes a ferrule, an optical fiber, a protective member, a sleeve, and a holder. The ferrule has a through-hole extending in an axial direction. The optical fiber is held by the ferrule in a state of being inserted into the through-hole and extends outside the ferrule from a rear end side of the ferrule. The protective member covers a portion of the optical fiber extending outside the ferrule. The sleeve engages an outer surface of the ferrule. The through-hole includes a first region and a second region. The second region is disposed rearward of the first region. The width in an orthogonal direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the through-hole in the second region widens toward the rear end side of the ferrule. The holder holds a portion of the outer surface of the ferrule rearward of the first region.

Pigtail-type optical receptacle

An optical receptacle, includes a fiber stub having an optical fiber with a core and cladding, a ferrule with a through-hole fixing the optical fiber, a bonding agent fixing the optical fiber in the through hole and a holder holding the fiber stub. The optical fiber is disposed inside the through-hole over an entire region of the optical fiber, and includes a portion in which a core diameter and a fiber outer diameter decrease gradually toward an end surface of the ferrule on a side opposite to a side to be optically connected to a plug ferrule. The bonding agent is filled into a space between the optical fiber and an inner wall of the through-hole.

Optical receptacle

An optical receptacle includes a fiber stub including an optical fiber, a ferrule having a through-hole fixing the optical fiber, an isolator filled into the through-hole of the ferrule with the optical fiber, and a holder holding the fiber stub. The through-hole has a small and large diameter portions, the optical fiber is disposed in the small diameter portion over the entire region of the optical fiber, the large diameter portion is provided opposite to a side to be optically connected to a plug ferrule, the isolator has substantially the same refractive index as the fiber's core, is filled into the small and large diameter portions, and is polished to cause at least a portion of the isolator to be flat at an end surface portion of the fiber stub on the side with the large diameter portion.

An optical receptacle includes: a fiber stub including an optical fiber, a ferrule, and an elastic member; and a holder holding the fiber stub, the optical fiber including a cladding and a core for conducting light, the ferrule having a through-hole fixing the optical fiber, the elastic member fixing the optical fiber in the through-hole, the fiber stub having one end surface on the ferrule side, and another on an opposite side, the optical fiber including first and third portions on the opposite end surface sides and a second portion therebetween, a core diameter of the first portion being smaller than the third portion, and a core diameter of the second portion increasing from the first portion side toward the third portion side.

An optical receptacle including: a fiber stub having a ferrule containing an optical fiber conducting light; a holder holding the fiber stub; and a sleeve. The ends of the sleeve respectively holding a tip of the fiber stub and a plug ferrule inserted into the optical receptacle. The ferrule includes a foreign matter movement suppressor in an end surface thereof which is polished into a convex spherical configuration on a side to be connected to the plug ferrule, and which suppresses movement of foreign matter moving, due to inserting and removing the plug ferrule, from an outer circumferential portion of the ferrule toward a central portion of the end surface.

According to an aspect of the invention, an optical receptacle, comprising: a fiber stub including an optical fiber, a ferrule, and an elastic member, the optical fiber including cladding and a core for conducting light, the ferrule having a through-hole fixing the optical fiber, the elastic member being filled into the through-hole of the ferrule with the optical fiber; and a holder holding the fiber stub, the through-hole of the ferrule including a small diameter portion and a large diameter portion, the optical fiber being disposed in the small diameter portion, the large diameter portion being provided on a side opposite to a side to be optically connected to a plug ferrule, the optical fiber being disposed in the small diameter portion inside the through-hole of the ferrule over the entire region of the optical fiber, the elastic member having substantially the same refractive index as the core, being filled into the small diameter portion and the large diameter portion, and being polished to cause at least a portion of the elastic member to be a flat surface portion at an end surface of the fiber stub on the side opposite to the side to be optically connected to the plug ferrule. By disposing the optical fiber in the small diameter portion of the through-hole of the ferrule over the entire region of the optical fiber, the breaking and/or cracking of the optical fiber and the decrease of the coupling efficiency can be prevented. Further, by setting the end surface of the elastic member filled into the through-hole of the ferrule to be a flat surface, the decrease of the coupling efficiency due to reflections is prevented without performing processing of the optical fiber end surface; and economic production is made possible.

According to an aspect of the invention, an optical receptacle, comprising: a fiber stub including a ferrule containing an optical fiber conducting light; a holder holding the fiber stub; and a sleeve, one end of the sleeve being capable of holding a tip of the fiber stub, one other end of the sleeve being capable of holding a plug ferrule inserted into the optical receptacle, the ferrule including a foreign matter movement suppressor in an end surface of the ferrule, the end surface being polished into a convex spherical configuration on a side to be connected to the plug ferrule, the foreign matter movement suppressor suppressing movement of foreign matter moving, due to inserting and removing the plug ferrule, from an outer circumferential portion of the ferrule toward a central portion of the end surface. It is possible to prevent the loss occurring due to the foreign matter at the outer circumferential portion of the fiber stub moving to the central portion of the end surface of the ferrule when repeatedly inserting and removing the plug ferrule into and from the optical receptacle; and it is possible to reduce the Wiggle loss by maintaining the length where the sleeve holds the fiber stub.

An optical receptacle includes a fiber stub having an optical fiber with a core and cladding, a ferrule with a through-hole fixing the optical fiber, and a bonding agent fixing the optical fiber in the ferrule, and a holder holding the fiber stub. The optical fiber is disposed inside the through-hole over an entire region of the optical fiber, and includes a portion in which a core diameter and a fiber outer diameter decrease gradually toward an end surface of the ferrule on a side opposite to a side to be optically connected to a plug ferrule. The bonding agent is filled into a space between the optical fiber and an inner wall of the through-hole.

According to one embodiment, an optical receptacle includes a fiber stub including an optical fiber, and a ferrule having a through-hole through which the optical fiber is fixed; a sleeve holding a portion of the fiber stub; a holder holding a portion of the fiber stub on an opposite side to a side that is held by the sleeve; an accommodation unit accommodates at least a portion of the fiber stub and the sleeve, an end surface of the fiber stub being formed as a convex spherical surface inclined with a specific angle with respect to a plane that is orthogonal to a center axis of the optical fiber, the end surface being optically connected to a plug ferrule to be inserted into the sleeve, the holder being provided with a positioning unit controlling an inclined direction of the end surface of the fiber stub.
