A thermal transfer medium includes a support, and a plurality of ink panels individually made of a thermal transfer ink. The plurality of ink panels include two or more ink panels selected from the group consisting of a first ink panel in which the thermal transfer ink is a first ink containing a specified pigment as a color material, a second ink panel in which the thermal transfer ink is a second ink containing a specified second pigment as a color material, and a third ink panel in which the thermal transfer ink is a third ink containing a specified third pigment as a color material.

An image display according to an embodiment includes a first image-displaying portion that displays first information about a certain object as a first image of object color, and a second image-displaying portion that displays second information about the object as a second image of structural color provided by a relief structure, the relief structure including at least one structure selected from the group consisting of diffraction grating, hologram, and light-scattering structure having an anisotropic light-scattering property. According to an example, the object is a person, and the first image includes a facial image of the person. A label includes an optical function layer configured to pass light of a certain wavelength, a light absorption pattern facing one major surface of the optical function layer and configured to absorb the light of the wavelength, and a light reflecting layer facing the other major surface of the optical function layer and configured to reflect the light of the wavelength. The light reflecting layer is configured to raise an absorbance at the wavelength when heated.

An ink cartridge has a label portion on a wall surface of one periphery of a case forming an ink accommodating unit. The label unit has a lamination structure in which a plurality of layers with different properties and states are laminated, and includes an optical functional layer that allows light (first wavelength of light) with a predetermined wavelength to pass and an optical reflective layer that reflects the first wavelength of light, and the optical reflective layer is a surface side of the case. When the optical reflective layer is heated from a thermal head of a heating unit directed to the label portion, the optical reflective layer irreversibly raises absorptivity of the first wavelength of light with respect to a received range.

Cartridge and printing apparatus

An ink cartridge has a label portion on a wall surface of one periphery of a case forming an ink accommodating unit. The label unit has an optical functional layer that allows a predetermined wavelength of light to pass, an optical dispersion layer that includes hollow bodies, and an optical absorptive layer that absorbs the first wavelength of light, which are laminated in this order, and the optical absorptive layer is a surface side of the case. When the optical reflective layer is heated from a heating unit directed to the label portion at a temperature of damaging the hollow bodies, the dispersion of the light is suppressed by the damage to the hollow bodies, and the transmittance of the wavelength of light is irreversibly raised.

Paper which exhibits more favorable forgery prevention effect is provided. Paper contains first and second surface regions opposed to each other and an intermediate region interposed between the first and second surface regions. Each of the first and second surface regions and the intermediate region contains cellulose fibers. At least the first surface region further comprises functional fibers which, upon reception of a physical stimulus, make a response different from that made by the cellulose fibers to the physical stimulus. The functional fibers contained in the first surface region are mingled with the cellulose fibers in the first surface region and are oriented in one direction which is parallel or oblique to one main surface of the paper.

According to the present invention, there is provided a laminated composite including an optical layer having a light reflectivity, and a latent image formation layer containing a liquid crystalline polymer material and provided on one of major surfaces of the optical layer, wherein the latent image formation layer includes at least one oriented portion in an orientation state and at least one non-oriented portion in a non-orientation state, and the oriented and non-oriented portions constitute a latent image which is unrecognizable by a direct visual observation and recognizable by a visual observation through a polarizing member. Also, according to the present invention, there is provided an information recording medium and a member of imparting a forgery-preventing characteristic including such a latent image formation layer.
