A high frequency coil for nuclear magnetic resonance comprises a saddle coil formed by interposing electric insulator members between adjacent ones of a plurality of metal straps. The metal straps are copper straps, and the electric insulator members are capacitors or air gaps.

High frequency coil for an NMR apparatus

A nuclear magnetic resonance imaging method having the first step of exciting a nuclear spin in a volume of an object in a static magnetic field, the second step of applying first, second and third gradients, and the third step of producing a spin echo signal under the second gradient in accordance with the nuclear spin which has the step of applying a high frequency pulse in which the nuclear spin is approximately tilted at 116.degree. as an exciting pulse in the first step.

Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging method

An RF field generator and detector comprising an RF coil having an inductance and at least one conductor which includes at least first and second separated parts arranged to form stray capacitance between them, capacitors for impedance matching which are connected to the RF coil, and a balanced-to-unbalanced transformer by which a balanced load composed of the RF coil and the capacitors is coupled to an unbalanced RF transmitter and receiver, the stray capacitance being adjusted thereby to equivalently reduce the inductance of the RF coil.

RF field generator and detector

A method of imaging flowing fluids, such as human blood, using nuclear magnetic resonance whereby an image of high resolution is obtained. First, nuclear spin is excited in a given slice plane of a sample disposed in a magnetostatic field. Then, phase disorder in a direction of a first field gradient due to the first step is compensated for and at least one 180.degree. RF pulse is applied. Next, the nuclear spin is again excited in the slice plane, after which at least first, second and third magnetic field gradients are applied to derive an output signal.

NMR imaging method

A high-frequency magnetic field generator/detector equipped with a saddle type coil assembly which comprises a combination of two similar windings having power supply terminals at one axial end thereof and load terminals at radially symmetrical positions of the other end thereof, wherein a first impedance-matching capacitor is connected between the power supply terminals, while a second impedance-matching capacitor is connected between the load terminals, and a coaxial cable having an electrical length equivalent to a half wavelength is connected between the power supply terminals, thereby matching the input and output impedances with each other.

High-frequency magnetic field generator/detector

A nuclear magnetic resonance imaging method in which the time necessary for forming a two-dimensional image of a single plane of a sample is significantly reduced, making the method applicable for imaging of the human heart or the like. First, nuclear spin is excited in a given volume of a sample disposed in a magnetostatic field. Secondly, first, second and third oblique magnetic fields are applied to the volume. Thirdly, the nuclear spin is rephased under the second magnetic field gradient by applying a 180.degree. pulse. Fourthly, the nuclear spin is phase modulated in the direction of the third magnetic field gradient prior to or following read out of a spin echo signal derived from the rephasing of the spin. Fifthly, the first through fourth steps are repeated, wherein the third magnetic field gradient in each of the repetitions of the fourth step has a constant absolute value and the direction of the third magnetic field gradient alternates.
