To improve the usability of an electronic device, the electronic device includes: a first communication unit located near a user; a receive unit configured to receive data through communication via a body of the user or near field communication between a second communication unit located in a member used by the user and the first communication unit; and a recording unit configured to record data pertaining to the member when communication is established between the first communication unit and the second communication unit.

A digital camera system capable of operating by detecting a feature point, which has not been accomplished, in addition to ordinary functions of a conventional camera is provided. According to an aspect of the present invention, a digital camera system includes a detecting means that detects a given feature point from an image data, a receiving means that receives an order from a user, a selecting means that selects each feature point in accordance with a given order instructed by the receiving means when a plurality of feature points are detected, and a display that displays feature point information identifying the feature point selected by the selecting means.

An image signal resulting from an image-capturing operation performed at a CCD undergoes analog processing at an image processing unit. Image data resulting from the analog processing are first digitized at an A/D conversion circuit and then undergo image processing at a DSP. The image data having undergone the image processing are stored in a frame memory. At a peaking processing circuit, a brightness signal Y stored in a Y signal memory of the frame memory is read out and differentiated at a differentiation circuit. The differentiated signal is amplified at an amplifier circuit and then the amplified signal is added to the original brightness signal Y at an adder circuit. A brightness signal Y' representing the sum is output to a display LCD. The edges in the image signal are emphasized in the display on the display LCD.

Electronic still camera with peaking function

A digital camera includes an image capturing unit, an image capturing control unit, and an image processing unit. The image capturing control unit controls the image capturing unit so as to obtain a still image. The image processing unit creates freeze video data used for reproducing the still image for a predetermined period of time.

An electronic camera of the present invention includes: an imaging unit capturing a subject to generate an original image; a derivative image generating unit reducing resolution or color of the original image to generate a derivative image for transfer; a recording unit recording the original image and the derivative image thereon such that the original image and the derivative image get associated with each other; and a transfer unit transferring the derivative image recorded on the recording unit to an external transfer destination. In this configuration, the recording unit finds the derivative image (original image) by referring to the association with the original image (or derivative image), thereby collectively managing the original image and the derivative image. This makes it possible to prevent a user from being confused at image management due to the original image and the derivative image being the same image.

A face detecting section of a camera detects a face area in a shooting screen under an output of an image sensor. A focus detecting section calculates a defocus amount from a relative interval of a pair of images under an optical flux passed through a shooting lens in each of optional areas in the shooting screen. A first focus controlling section specifies a focus detecting area from the optional areas under an output of the face detecting section, and performs a focus operation under the defocus amount of the focus detecting area. A second focus controlling section calculates a focus evaluation value in the face area under an output of the image sensor, and performs a focus operation by using the focus evaluation value. A control section causes at least one of the first focus controlling section and the second focus controlling section to perform a focus operation.

Camera

The present invention relates to an electronic camera which images an object image and records image data. Particularly, the present invention relates to technology to record image data in a good shooting state, such as with little blurring due to hand shaking. The invention has an image pick-up means which continuously images an object, a temporary memory means which temporarily stores a plurality of frames of image data which are continuously imaged by the image pick-up means, a shooting evaluation means which evaluates a good or bad shooting state of the image data imaged by the image pick-up means, a still image selection means which selects the image data with the highest evaluation of the shooting evaluation means among the image data which are stored in the temporary memory means, and an image saving means which saves the image data which is selected by the still image selection means.

An electronic camera includes a zoom changing unit that changes a focal length of a zoom lens, an image-capturing unit that executes photoelectric conversion for a subject image projected by the zoom lens onto an image-capturing area, a range finding unit that detects a distance to a subject, a photographic range setting unit that sets a size of a photographic range at a subject position, and a zoom control unit that controls the zoom changing unit based upon the photographic range that has been set and the subject distance so that the subject within the photographic range is projected almost over the entirety of the image-capturing area.

An information processing method and apparatus reproduces predetermined information from a variety of information recorded by, for example, an electronic camera. The information may be reproduced in a predetermined order and with predetermined reproduction time. Reproduction information is generated based on recording information. Reproduction time may be changed by changing a WAIT time between reproduction of each recording unit. A slide show mode may be selected after a series of information are recorded. If information is not being presently recorded in the electronic camera, all of the information previously recorded may be displayed as the slide show. Also, new information may be recorded even under unexpected conditions. Information to be reproduced may be set during slide show mode by changing the order of reproduction if necessary. The new information is recognized as different information from the information that is set during the slide show mode.

Information processing apparatus and method

A head band unit contains a bending sensor which detects bending of the head band unit. As shown in the figure, the bending degree of the head band unit when mounted on a user head is smaller than the bending degree of the head band unit when not mounted. Accordingly, the bending degree of the bending sensor is also smaller when mounted. Consequently, by using the output of the bending sensor, it is possible to judge whether the headphone is mounted on the user head. When the headphone is mounted on the user head, power supply to a secondary battery is stopped. Thus, it is possible to provide an output device which can safely charge the secondary battery and can continue operation by an external power source even if the electric capacity of the secondary battery has become zero.
