A lens machining apparatus is provided that can execute everything required in machining eyeglass lenses, from measurement to various kinds of machining, and still ensures high-precision machining. The apparatus includes a lens holding unit 12 which holds a lens 1 and causes the same to turn, a cutter 131 which cuts (edges) the circumferential surface of the lens in a prescribed cross-sectional shape, an end mill 141 which machines a groove in the circumferential surface of the lens whose circumferential surface has been cut (edged) and chamfers edges at the lens circumferential surface, and a lens measurement unit 15 which measures the shape and the position of the lens held by the lens holding unit.

Lens machining apparatus and method

A lens holder () includes a metal holder main body () and an elastic member () which holds the processing center portion () of a processing target lens (). The holder main body () has a fitting hole () formed at a front surface center. The elastic member () includes a fitting shaft portion (A) to be slidably fitted in the fitting hole (), and a lens holding portion (B) integrally provided to the fitting shaft portion (A). The front surface of the lens holding portion (B) forms a lens holding surface () which holds the processing target lens (). Before holding the processing target lens (), a suitable gap (g) is formed between the front surface () of the holder main body () and the lens holding surface (). When the lens holding surface () is urged against the processing target lens (), the lens holding portion (B) elastically deforms toward the rear surface and is urged against the front surface () of the holder main body ().

A bevel perimeter measurement apparatus () includes a retractable slider (), a stylus holder () disposed to be vertically movable on the slider (), a stylus () which has a bevel measurement groove () formed on its outer periphery and is provided on the stylus holder (), a pressing force application device () which moves the slider () forward at the time of bevel measurement to press the stylus () against the edge surface () of a spectacle lens (), and a retracting device () which holds the stylus holder () at the retraction position during non-measurement. When the stylus holder () is released from the retracting device () at the time of measurement, it ascends using the spring force of biasing springs () to engage the bevel measurement groove () in the stylus () with a bevel () of the spectacle lens ().

Apparatus and method for measuring bevel perimeter of spectacle lens

A centering device () is arranged to surround a loading table () on which a lens blank () is to be set, to set the geometric center of the lens blank () to coincide with the center of the loading table (). The centering device () includes three clamp pins () which press the peripheral surface of the lens blank (). When centering is ended, the loading table () on which the lens blank () is set is pushed up by a moving device () from a centering position (H) to a block position (H), and a peripheral portion of the lens blank () on a concave surface side is urged against the lower surfaces of locking portions (A) of clamp pins (). After a predetermined amount of wax () is dripped onto the lens blank (), a lens holding unit () is moved downward by a predetermined amount and urged against the wax on the lens blank () to spread the wax thin and let the wax to solidify. Thus, the lens blank () and lens holding unit () are bonded to each other.
