A control device according to the present invention includes a plurality of arithmetic units that operate in parallel. A sensor value of the control amount is input to the first arithmetic unit in a signal transmission sequence, and a correction amount for the manipulation amount is output from the last arithmetic unit in the signal transmission sequence. The first arithmetic unit has a controller that produces an output by processing the input sensor value, and the arithmetic units other than the first arithmetic unit has a delay element that delays an input by a predetermined number of steps and a controller that produces an output by processing the delayed input.

Control device

The present invention relates to a control device design method for a control device that determines a manipulation amount of a control object having a dead time by feedback control so as to bring a control amount of the control object closer to a target value. The method according to the present invention includes a step of designing a feedback loop that computes a correction amount for the manipulation amount using a plurality of controllers including a prediction model of the control object, a step of deriving the same number of delay elements as the plurality of controllers from a dead time element of the prediction model, and a step of allocating the plurality of controllers associated with the delay elements to a plurality of arithmetic units so that the computation of the feedback loop is performed by parallel computation by the plurality of arithmetic units that operate in parallel.

It is a task of the invention to make it possible to calculate a control target value of one actuator or control target values of a plurality of actuators regarding engine control at a high speed through the use of a multicore processor. With a view to accomplishing this task, a plurality of lattice points that are arranged on a two-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system having axes representing a first operating condition and a second operating condition respectively are associated respectively with at least one or some of a plurality of cores that are arranged in a latticed manner on the multicore processor on one-on-one level on a same line as on the two-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system, and a calculation program for calculating an optimal control value at the associated lattice point or calculation programs for calculating optimal control values at the associated lattice points are allocated respectively to at least one or some of the plurality of the cores. In addition, each of the cores with which the lattice points are associated respectively is programmed, in a case where an operation area on the two-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system to which a current operating point belongs is an area that is defined by the lattice point associated with each of the cores itself, to transmit, to an interpolation calculation core, an optimal control value at the relevant lattice point that is calculated by each of the cores itself. The interpolation calculation core is programmed to perform an interpolation calculation of an optimal control value at the current operating point using optimal control values at all the lattice points that define the operation area on the two-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system to which the current operating point belongs. In addition, the multicore processor outputs the optimal control value at the current operating point, which is obtained from the interpolation calculation core, as a control target value of each of the actuators.

Engine control apparatus

Multiple lattice points arranged in a three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system that takes first, second and third operating conditions as axes are associated with cores arranged in a lattice shape. A program for calculating a control value at the associated lattice points is allocated to the cores. Each core with which a lattice point is associated is configured so that, in a case where an operation space on the three-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system to which a current operating point belongs is a space defined by eight adjacent lattice points including a lattice point associated with the relevant core, the relevant core calculates a control value at the lattice point associated therewith by means of the calculation program and sends the control value to an interpolation calculation core. Further, if the operation space is not defined by the eight adjacent lattice points, the relevant core suspends calculation of the control value.

A control device for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine that is equipped with a variable compression ratio mechanism includes an air-fuel ratio sensor, and a controller that determines whether or not actual mechanical compression ratios in cylinders of the internal combustion engine are uniform. The controller controls the variable compression ratio mechanism by decreasing a target mechanical compression ratio from a current first target mechanical compression ratio to a second target mechanical compression ratio without changing the amount of intake air and a fuel injection amount, and determines that the actual mechanical compression ratios in the cylinders are not uniform when the target mechanical compression ratio is set at the first target mechanical compression ratio if the differences in the output air-fuel ratios from the air-fuel ratio sensor for exhaust gases from the cylinders before and after the control of the variable compression ratio mechanism are not uniform.

A method for estimating steady state values of engine operating characteristics is provided so that engine control can later be based on the estimated values. An amount of change in a specific engine characteristic (for which the steady state values are to be estimated) is set as a product of an unknown value and a dimensionless known value for predetermined times from when a specific engine control parameter is changed. A value of the specific engine characteristic at a given time is calculated as a sum of the products at the given time, with the products respectively corresponding to plural prior changes in the specific engine control parameter. Unknown values are calculated multiple times based on values of the specific engine characteristic measured in a conformance test, and the steady state values of the specific engine characteristic are estimated.

A device for controlling an internal combustion engine, comprising a variable valve mechanism for varying opening areas (valve lift) or the working angles (valve-opening periods) of at least either the intake valves or the exhaust valves, wherein a pressure in the cylinder is calculated based on the opening area or the working angle of at least either the intake valve or the exhaust valve varied by the variable valve mechanism, and the internal combustion engine is controlled based on the pressure in the cylinder. Upon calculating the pressure in the cylinder based on the opening areas or the working angles of the intake and exhaust valves, it is possible to more suitably control the internal combustion engine based not only upon the peak combustion pressure in the cylinder like when a combustion pressure sensor is used but also upon a pressure in the cylinder at a moment other than the peak combustion pressure.

The present invention is directed to generate an adaptive value in a short time. An adaptive value generating program has an adaptive procedure control program and a DOE tool. The DOE tool is a general statistical processing tool. The adaptive value procedure generating program functions as an interface between a measuring apparatus and the DOE tool. In a data obtaining process, the adaptive value procedure generating program automatically determines a method of selecting a measurement point and passes the result to the DOE tool. Selection of an approximation function and selection of an optimization method are automated. Further, evaluation of a final approximation expression and determination of confirmation data are also automated.

An engine speed control unit of an internal combustion engine for controlling an engine speed so that it can reach a target value, changes the engine speed so that it can reach a target value in a period of time from the completion of the initial combustion of the engine starting to the idling steady state. The after-start engine speed peak actual value &ldquo;gnepk&rdquo;, which is an engine speed in the idling state in a predetermined period of time from the start of the engine, is calculated, and the after-start engine speed peak target value &ldquo;tnepk&rdquo; is read in from the map, and the ratio &ldquo;rnepk&rdquo; is found. When the ratio &ldquo;rnepk&rdquo; is out of the target range, it can be considered that the burning state is bad.

The control apparatus judges a degree of deterioration of a combustion state in the engine, based on a difference between a predetermined reference peak engine speed and an actual peak engine speed, and switches from the intake air flow control to ignition timing control for controlling the engine speed when the engine operates in a poor combustion state, at a point of time that is determined based on the degree of deterioration of the combustion state.

It is determined whether the engine speed change-to-throttle opening change ratio rdlnetha is within a predetermined range. If the determination is negative, a flag xnedown indicating an imperfect combustion state is turned on. Then, the intake air flow feedback control is stopped, and the control is switched to an ignition timing feedback control or an fuel injection amount feedback control. Therefore, the occurrence of the imperfect combustion state during the feedback control of the engine idle speed can be precisely detected.

In a control apparatus, a peak engine revolution actual value gnepk during a present post-startup of an engine is calculated. A post-startup peak engine revolution target value tnepk is read from a map. An intake air flow QST used for the next startup is determined by multiplying the intake air flow QST used for the present startup by the ratio between the post-startup peak engine revolution actual value gnepk and the post-startup peak engine revolution target value tnepk, that is, tnepk/gnepk. This control apparatus is therefore able to control the engine revolution during the post-startup with good precision.
