An information processing system includes an information processing device and a portable terminal. The information processing device includes a card processing section that communicates with an IC chip of an IC card (card IC chip), and when security is satisfied between the information processing device and the card IC chip, performs information processing function of the card IC chip. Authentication processing between an IC chip (terminal IC chip) of the portable terminal and the card IC chip is performed through the card processing section, and secure communication is provided between the terminal IC chip and the card IC chip through the card processing section when the authentication processing is successful. Information input on the portable terminal is transmitted to the card IC chip through the secure communication. In this way, high user convenience can be achieved and increased security can also be achieved for the entire system.

Information processing system

A reader device performs control to cause rates of transmission at the time of transmitting an authentication command to an IC chip included in a passport to be different from each other. Then, when the rates of transmission are caused to be different from each other, each of required times T1 and T2 required after transmitting the authentication command to the IC chip until receiving a response to the authentication command from the IC chip is measured. An operation time Tc required for execution of the authentication command in the IC chip is calculated on the basis of the required times T1 and T2 measured as described above, and, further, genuine/counterfeit judgment of the IC chip (genuine/counterfeit judgment of the passport is performed on the basis of the calculated operation time Tc.

An image verification system includes an image input apparatus, image verification apparatus, and database apparatus. The image input apparatus generates verification information for image data by using a private key and adds the verification information and predetermined information unique to the image input apparatus to the image data. The image verification apparatus verifies that the image data has been altered or not by using the verification information and a public key corresponding to the private key. The database apparatus stores the public key in association with the predetermined information in the a storage unit and provides the public key to the image verification apparatus.

Image data verification

A provider side apparatus provides original digital data together with a digital signature generated by the provider side apparatus, the digital signature detecting whether the original digital data was falsified or detecting a change level given to the original digital data. Upon reception of the digital data, a receiver side apparatus can know the originality of the received digital data or a change level of the received digital data from the original digital data, in accordance with the digital signature corresponding to the digital data.

An image processing apparatus includes an alteration unit and a control unit. The alteration unit alters a first image file stored in a removable storage medium in order to generate a second image file. The control unit controls to store the second image file in the storage medium without deleting the first image file from the storage medium, if the first image file includes authentication data that is used to authenticate whether the first image file has been altered.

The first verification apparatus generates second verification data (a digital signature) for the image data if the image data has not been altered. The second verification apparatus verifies whether the image data has been altered, by using the image data and second verification data.

An imaging apparatus includes an image data generating unit, an authentication data generating unit, a receiving unit and an authentication unit. The image data generating unit generates first image data. The authentication data generating unit generates first authentication data from the first image data. The receiving unit receives second image data and second authentication data from an external device, wherein both the second image data and the second authentication data are generated by a second imaging apparatus, and the second authentication data is generated from the second image data. An image verification apparatus includes a verification unit and a control unit. The verification unit verifies, using verification data included in an image file, whether a digital image included in the image file has been altered. The control unit (a) controls the image verification apparatus to display additional information of the digital image on a display unit, if the verification unit verifies that the digital image has not been altered, and (b) controls the image verification apparatus not to display the additional information except a thumbnail image of the digital image on the display unit and to display both the thumbnail image of the digital image and information indicating that the digital image has been altered on the display unit, if the verification unit verifies that the digital image has been altered. The additional information includes the thumbnail image of the digital image.

A digital signature generating apparatus generates a digital signature of digital data. The digital signature generating apparatus includes a receiving unit, the secret key changing unit and a digital signature generating unit. The receiving unit receives one of a first command and a second command. The first command includes information indicating one of a plurality of secret keys, and the plurality of secret keys are included in the digital signature generating apparatus. The secret key changing unit changes a secret key used by the digital signature generating apparatus to a secret key specified by the first command, if the first command is received by the receiving unit. The digital signature generating unit generates the digital signature of the digital data from a hash value extracted from the second command, if the second command is received by the receiving unit.

An image verification system has an image generation device and a first image verification device. The image generation device includes (a) an image data generation unit that generates image data, and (b) a first verification data generation unit that generates first verification data from the image data using a common key in common key cryptography. The first image verification device includes (a) a first verification unit that verifies, using the image data, the first verification data and the common key, whether the image data is altered, and (b) a second verification data generation unit that generates second verification data from the image data using a private key in public key cryptography without editing the image data, if the first verification unit verifies that the image data is not altered.

Image data verification system

A system classifies an image file into a first group if authentication data included in the image file has been generated using a private key cryptosystem, and classifies the image file into a second group if the authentication data included in the image file has been generated using a public key cryptosystem. The system authenticates whether or not image data included in the image file has been altered using the authentication data. The system displays an indication of whether or not the image data included in the image file has been altered in a display area corresponding to the first group, if the image file is classified in the first group. The system displays an indication of whether or not the image data included in the image file has been altered in a display area corresponding to the second group, if the image file is classified in the second group.

Image authentication apparatus, image authentication method, and image authentication program

An image verification system includes an image generation apparatus and a first verification apparatus. The image generation apparatus (a) generates image data, (b) generates a hash value from the image data, and (c) generates first verification data from the hash value using a common key cryptography and not using a public key cryptography. The first verification apparatus (a) receives the hash value and the first verification data, (b) verifies, using the received hash value, the received first verification data and the common key cryptography, whether the image data is altered, and (c) generates second verification data from the hash value using the public key cryptography, if the first verification apparatus verifies that the image data is not altered.

A control apparatus which controls an image sensing apparatus, includes a determination unit, a command generating unit and a command sending unit. The determination unit determines whether or not verification data has been added to an image file, the verification data being used to determine whether or not a digital image in the image file has been altered. The command generating unit generates a command that requests the image sensing apparatus to change the contents of the image file. The command sending unit sends the command to the image sensing apparatus if the determination unit determines that the verification data has not been added to the image file, the command being not sent to the image sensing apparatus if the determination unit determines that the verification data has been added to the image file.

Control apparatus and control method for image sensing apparatus

An apparatus generates additional data used to check whether an encoded digital image is changed or not. The apparatus includes a calculation unit and a recording unit. The calculation unit (a) performs a predetermined calculation using the encoded digital image and confidential information and (b) generates the additional data by applying a one-way function to a result of the predetermined calculation. The recording unit records both the encoded digital image and the additional data on a recording medium. The confidential information includes (a) first information unique to the apparatus, and (b) second information unique to an external apparatus connected to the apparatus.
