A glass run structure for a door of an automobile including a door frame and a door glass adapted to be movable up and down in contact with a glass run member mounted to the door frame, the glass run member including a projected lip for making resilient contact with the door glass, and a guide surface for limiting the projected lip bent towards the inside of the automobile, in which the guide surface is so formed skew with respect to the door glass that its upper end is positioned nearer to the door glass than its lower end, thereby always realizing a substantially flat surface connection of the door glass with a side body of the automobile when the door is closed.

A guide plate has at the front and rear ends thereof a pair of guide rail portions on which a pair of sliders are movably mounted for guiding movement of a door glass. The guide plate also mounts thereon a drive unit for driving the door glass at a point located between the sliders.

Pull-up and pull-down wires extend toward each other from opposed positions with respect to a glass pane carrying member and are connected at their leading ends to spaced portions of the carrying member in such a manner that the two wires extend along a common line. A wire tensioner is mounted on the carrying member for tensioning the wires. The tensioner includes a torsion spring having outwardly extending end portions at least one of which is engaged with the leading end of one of the wires to bias the same toward the other.

A roller unit of a window regulator is movably engaged with a guide rail of a U-shaped cross section. The guide rail has a pair of parallel side walls one of which is formed with a longitudinal groove of a V-shaped cross section and the other is formed to be planar. The roller unit includes a pair of convexly surfaced rollers in rolling contact with the grooved side wall and a flat surfaced roller in rolling contact with the planar side wall. The flat surfaced roller is movable toward and away from the planar side wall and urged against the same by a spring.
