It is an object of the present invention to solve the problem of precipitation of a poorly water-soluble compound in a hydrophilic matrix upon inclusion of the poorly water-soluble compound in the hydrophilic matrix. The present invention provides a composition wherein a poorly water-soluble compound is contained in a hydrophilic matrix in a finely-dispersed state.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a method capable of measuring a high concentration (up to 2500 U/L) of animal sample without dilutions, which is further capable of specifically measuring &#x3b1;-amylase even in a sample comprising animal &#x3b1;-amylase (EC 3.2.1.1) and glucoamylase (EC 3.2.1.3). There is disclosed a silver halide photographic material containing a dispersion of a hydrophobic compound and a water-insoluble and organic solvent-soluble polymer as defined herein.
