An absorbent body in absorbent articles that causes exudates to disperse in a planar direction and a method of producing the same. The absorbent body has an absorbent core material covered with a cover sheet. The core material has a mass per unit area of 650 g/mor less and includes a first liquid absorbent layer containing hydrophilic fibers and superabsorbent polymer particles in a mixed state and a second liquid absorbent layer containing the hydrophilic fibers but none of the superabsorbent polymer particles, wherein the first liquid absorbent layer and the second liquid absorbent layer are overlap with each other and the hydrophilic fibers are in contact with each other between the first liquid absorbent layer and the second liquid absorbent layer.

Absorbent article

A disposable diaper includes so that a sweat-absorbent sheet attached to the inner side of the diaper can maintain its sweat absorbing function during use of the diaper. The inner side of front or rear waist region constituting the disposable diaper is covered with a hydrophobic sheet and the sweat-absorbent sheet is bonded to the inner surface of the hydrophobic sheet. The hydrophobic sheet has a first sealing-free zone extending, inclusive of a first lower edge, in a circumferential direction so as to be left free from the inner side of the diaper and a first sealing zone extending above the first sealing-free zone and bonded to the inner side of the diaper. The sweat-absorbent sheet has a second lower edge extending in the circumferential direction above the first lower edge of the hydrophobic sheet, a second sealing-free zone extending, inclusive of the second lower edge, in the circumferential direction so as to be left free from the hydrophobic sheet and a second sealing zone extending above the second sealing-free zone and bonded to the hydrophobic sheet. A lower end of the first sealing zone is provided so as to lie below a lower end of the second sealing zone.

Disposable diaper

This invention aims to provide a composite sheet having a layer of inelastically stretchable continuous fibers improved so that a possible unevenness in fiber diameter may be minimized. A composite sheet comprises an elastically stretchable layer and an inelastically stretchable layer formed with inelastically stretchable continuous fibers bonded to at least one surface of the elastically stretchable layer intermittently in one direction. The continuous fibers are oriented substantially in one direction thereof so that the composite sheet may present a ratio S/Sof 3.0 or higher where Srepresents a tensile strength in this one direction and Srepresents a tensile strength in the direction orthogonal to this one direction.

Composite sheet and process for making the same

A disposable pants-type wearing article includes an inner sheet, an outer sheet and an intermediate sheet having two or more plastic film strips sandwiched between the inner sheet and the outer sheet. The film strips are overlapped one another to define an overlapped region dimensioned to be 10 to 100 mm in a longitudinal direction of the wearing article and extend in a transverse direction to the vicinity of leg-surrounding elastic members.

First and second elastic members constituting leg elastic members are colored in substantially the same white or milky white as that of the inner and outer sheets and respective intermediate segments of these elastic members are sandwiched between a liquid-absorbent layer and the inner sheet. The inner and outer sheets conceal the respective intermediate segments of these elastic members so that the respective intermediate segments of the elastic members are not highly visible and the article is protected from any deterioration of its appearance.

A process for manufacturing a composite sheet by joining a second of thermoplastic synthetic fiber and capable of inelastic extension to at least one surface of a first web capable of elastic strech and contraction in an intermittent manner. The process includes a step of extending the first web, a step of joining the second web to the extended first web and a step of extending the joined first and second webs.

Process for manufacturing elastically stretchable and contractible composite sheet

An elastically stretchable nonwoven fabric including thermoplastic elastomer filaments; the filaments being heat-sealed and/or mechanically intertwined together to form the nonwoven fabric that has crimped regions and non-crimped regions wherein each of the crimped regions has fine crimps in the rate of 50/cm or higher.

Elastically stretchable nonwoven fabric and process for making the same

An apparatus for producing a web of continuous fibers having a melt extruder, an endless belt running in one direction and a guide box located between the extruder and the belt. The guide box has front and rear walls as viewed in the running direction of the belt, a pair of side walls extending between the front and rear walls and upper and lower end openings. The fibers extruded from the extruder enter the upper end opening by suction exerted in the vicinity of the lower end opening. The guide box is formed in the front wall and/or the rear wall with intermediate opening(s) serving to introduce the outside air into the guide box.

An elastically stretchable composite sheet including an elastic sheet and a fibrous assembly. A fibrous assembly having an inelastic extensibility is bonded to at least one surface of an elastic sheet at intermittently arranged bond regions to form a composite sheet. Component fibers constituting the fibrous assembly are long fibers continuously extending and describing curves between each pair of adjacent bond regions.

Elastically stretchable composite sheet

A process for making a nonwoven fabric in which continuous fibers are evenly distributed and neither bundles nor lumps of the fibers, includes a guide box for continuous fibers being provided between extruding nozzles adapted to discharge the continuous fibers under hot air blast and a conveyor belt. The box has an upper end opening and a lower end opening being larger than the upper end opening. The continuous fibers are subjected to a suction effect provided from below the guide box so that the continuous fibers may be secondarily stretched and thereby thinned within the guide box.
