An image forming apparatus, laving a photosensitive member, an exposure device to form an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive member, a developer roller to supply a developer agent to the photosensitive member, a humidity sensor to detect humidity, and a controller, is provided. The controller executes a preparatory rotation controlling process, in which the photosensitive member and the developer roller are rotated prior to forming the electrostatic latent image, and an image-forming controlling process, in which the electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive member. In the preparatory rotation controlling process, the developer roller is rotated at a first peripheral velocity under a condition of the humidity being lower than or equal to a predetermined value, and at a second peripheral velocity being higher than the first peripheral velocity under a condition of the humidity being higher than the predetermined value.

Image forming apparatus and method for controlling an image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus, including a photosensitive member, a charger configured to charge the photosensitive member, a developer roller configured to contact the photosensitive member and supply a developer agent to the photosensitive member, a humidity sensor configured to detect humidity, and a controller is provided. The controller is configured to a voltage-application controlling process, in which the controller controls the photosensitive member and the developer roller to rotate, applies a charger-voltage to the charger, and applies a developer-voltage to the developer roller. In the voltage-application controlling process, the controller controls a voltage difference between the charger-voltage and the developer-voltage based on a peripheral velocity ratio of the developer roller with respect to the photosensitive member and the humidity.

An image forming apparatus is provided with: a controller capable of changing a developing bias, which is to be applied to a developing roller configured to carry developer thereon; a peripheral speed ratio of a developing roller to a photosensitive member; a control method by the controller, and a program for operating the controller. A configuration is provided where the developing roller makes contact with the photosensitive member when a developing bias is made to be lower during the non-developing than during a developing phase. The configuration can suppress press fogging at room temperature and low humidity conditions.

The regulating portion is fixed on the thin-plate member and has an end face extending in a direction. The engagement portion is fixed on the thin-plate member and positioned closer to the lateral end than the end face to the lateral end to provide a groove between the engagement portion and the end face. The sealing member is fitted in the groove and has a length in the first direction longer than a length of the groove prior to assembly of the sealing member into the groove.

The light-receiving element is configured to receive the light emitted by the light-emitting element through the replaceable cartridge to output a signal. The determination value is produced based on the signal. The determining unit is configured to determine whether or not the determination value is greater than a predetermined determination threshold upon the agitator having rotated continuously more than a first prescribed number of times. The determining unit determines that the replaceable cartridge should be replaced with a new one when the determination value is greater than the predetermined determination threshold.

A balancer is fixedly attached to a rotary input shaft of a crank mechanism that converts rotary drive of a needle bar drive source to up-and-down motion of a needle bar. The balancer is caused to rotate at substantially an opposite phase with respect to up-and-down motion of the needle bar with the rotary drive of the needle bar drive source. When the balancer is driven at substantially the opposite phase with respect to the up-and-down motion of the needle bar, inertia force in an up-and-down direction of the needle bar, generated due to the up-and-down motion of the needle bar is negated, whereby it is possible to reduce vibration generated in the up-and-down direction. Sewing heads paired with each other by being arbitrarily combined are controlled so as to be rotationally driven to cause rotational directions of the needle bar drive sources to become opposite directions to each other.

Continuous sequin strip having a multiplicity of continuously-connected sequins is let out from a reel and then placed on the upper surface of a supporting plate. Sequin feeder apparatus feeds the sequin strip at a predetermined pitch corresponding to a size of a sequin of the continuous sequin strip through advancing and retracting movement of a feed lever interlocked to sewing operation of a needle bar of a sewing machine. The feed lever includes two engaging portions for engaging a predetermined sequin of the strip to feed the strip. With the two engaging portions engaging at least two points of the sequin, the sequin can be fed out reliably irrespective of the position of the sewing hole formed in the sequin. Thus, even sequins, each having the sewing hole eccentrically offset in a direction perpendicular to a sequin-strip feeding direction, can be fed out at the predetermined pitch with an increased reliability.

Sequin feeding operation is performed by causing a feed lever () to move forward with a distal-end hook portion () of the feed lever engaging a sequin center hole () of a continuous sequin strip () let out from a reel () and then placed on the upper surface of a supporting plate (), and the successive sequins can be fed one by one by repeating forward and rearward movement of the feed lever. Lock lever () having an engaging claw () engageable with the sequin center hole is pivotably supported near the feed lever. When predetermined-pitch feeding, by the feed lever, of the continuous sequin strip has been completed, the engaging claw () of the lock lever is caused to engage a center hole following the center hole engaged by the hook portion of the feed lever, to thereby immovably lock the continuous sequin strip.

The thread cutting device may include a fixed knife and a movable knife cooperating with each other to cut either one or both of the upper and lower threads.
