A mechanism for detecting an amount of remaining sheets, includes: a sheet feeding tray to be accommodated in an apparatus main body such that the sheet feeding tray can be inserted into and withdrawn from the apparatus main body, in which sheets can be loaded in an inside of the sheet feeding tray; a tilting plate that is tiltably provided in the sheet feeding tray so as to tilt in accordance with an amount of remaining sheets in the sheet feeding tray; a rotating member that rotates between a starting end position and a final end position of rotation of the rotating member in association with the tilting of the tilting plate; and a locking mechanism that locks the rotation of the rotating member.

Apparatus for detecting amount of remaining sheets and image forming apparatus including the same

A feeder that stores a sheet used to form an image in an image forming apparatus main body and that is configured to be drawn out from the image forming apparatus main body in a perpendicular direction to a sheet conveying direction. The feeder includes: a separation member that is in press-contact with a sheet feed member disposed in the image forming apparatus main body for separating a stored sheet in cooperation with the sheet feed member; an arm part that is attached to the separation member, the separation member being rotatably attached through the arm part; and a rotation mechanism that rotates the separation member downward through the arm part and releases the press contact with the sheet feed member when the feeder is drawn out from the image forming apparatus main body.

Feeder and image forming apparatus

A paper supply device includes: a paper supply cassette that is loaded into an image forming apparatus body, such that the paper supply cassette can be freely pulled out, and is disposed with a first sheet housing for supplying sheets to an image forming section of the image forming apparatus body; and a second sheet supply mechanism that is disposed in the paper supply cassette and is for supplying, to the image forming section of the image forming apparatus body, sheets housed in a second sheet housing different from the first sheet housing, wherein a recessed portion, through which paper supplying means that is disposed in the image forming apparatus body and supplies sheets to the image forming apparatus body from the second sheet housing passes when the paper supply cassette is loaded into and unloaded from the image forming apparatus body, is formed in the paper supply cassette.
