An apparatus for manufacturing no-bran cereal such as no-bran rice which require no washing before cooking. With the apparatus, bran stuck on a surface of a grain of the polished cereal is easily removed without imparting any damage on the surface, and further moisture in the grain is maintained to increase taste of the cereal. Moisture is added to the polished cereal and granular material is mixed and stirred with the moistened polished cereal to polish a surface of each grain of the polished cereal and remove bran stuck on the surface of the polished cereal. Then, the polished cereal is separated from the granular material to obtain the no-bran rice.

A method of diagnosing nutritious condition of crop in a plant field is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: locating a camera equipped with a plurality of image elements in a predetermined central depression angle with respect to the plant field; obtaining an amount of reflection light of a crop leaf for each image element by image-taking the field; obtaining an image-taken area for each unit image element by an area function constituted by a conversion variable including a ground clearance, an image element depression angle, the number of image elements and a field angle of the camera; making an area compensation of the amount of reflection light for each image element by the image-taken area; making a depression angle compensation of the amount of reflection light by a depression angle coefficient predetermined for compensating differences of amounts of reflection light correspondingly with image element depression angles; measuring an amount of light incident on the crop leaf; obtaining reflectance from the amount of the reflection light compensated and the measured amount of incident light; obtaining first crop information in a predetermined area based on the reflectance and a first crop related formula predetermined for obtaining crop information from reflectance, and storing the first crop information; and determining a nutritious condition of the crop in the plant field based on the first crop information. Instead of the grand clearance of the camera, a distance of field of view of the camera may well be used.

A reciprocating rod of the ejector is borne in a non-sliding state by permanent magnets on the reciprocating rod and permanent magnets surrounding the reciprocating rod. The reciprocating rod linearly projects out and retracts by the reciprocating components which cause the reciprocating rod to reciprocate by the driving signals from the driver circuit. A slanted surface is provided at the foremost end of the reciprocating rod. When the granular objects to be ejected flow-in continuously, the projecting-out action takes place correspondingly with the leading granular object to be ejected and, after the following granular object(s) to be ejected has been ejected, the retracting action takes place.

At a starting of a motor which receives an electric power from a generator driven by an engine, an excitation current controller controls an excitation current so as to cause an output frequency of a generator to approach a predetermined frequency which is lower than a rated frequency when an output voltage detected by an output voltage detector is reduced to lower than a first predetermined voltage. Thereafter, the excitation current controller controls the excitation current so as to cause the output voltage of the generator to be the rated voltage when the output voltage detector detects a second predetermined voltage which is higher than the first predetermined voltage. In this way, the load capacity which enables the starting by the engine-driven generator without directly controlling the engine is improved.

From the crop of a predetermined area in a plant field under exposure to natural light, a reflectivity of the light having relation to crop information such as nitrogen content rate is measured by a camera; the crop information as first crop information is obtained from the first crop related formula established in advance for obtaining the crop information from the reflectivity; light is irradiated on crop leaf blades in the same area as the predetermined area and an amount of the light is measured; the crop information as second crop information is obtained from the second crop related formula established in advance for obtaining the crop information from the amount of the light; differences are calculated from the first crop information and the second crop information; the first crop information is obtained from the unknown crop in the predetermined area within the crop field of the same area; the first crop information is corrected based on the differences; and the nutritious diagnosis of the crop in the field is conducted by the corrected first crop information. In conducting diagnosis of crop by measuring the reflection light amount from the crop, since compensation or correction is performed, no great errors occur caused by differences in the measurement locations and the planting densities, and the diagnosis of the crop is simple and easy and, more over, the precision in the measuring is enhanced.

A rotary shaking separator for separating unhulled rice and unpolished rice from each other includes at least one separating vessel and a plurality of drives located at even intervals on the peripheral edge of the separating vessel, the plurality of drives being actuated to bring the whole of the separating vessel into a rotationally shaking motion.

A method and an apparatus for determining an amount of fertilizer to be applied to grain crops are disclosed. A fertilizer application related formula for obtaining the necessary amount of fertilizer to be applied is established by analyzing growth information including leaf blade information, fertilizer application information and quality information, all the above information being obtained in advance from a number of grains or grain crops. The formula thus established is stored in the memory. The necessary amount of fertilizer to be applied for each specific period for grain crops which are presently under growth is calculated by applying to the above formula, growth information of the grain crops presently under growth and target quality information. The growth information includes leaf blade information in relation to a specific period. The results of the calculation are displayed or printed out. A method and an apparatus for estimating a quality or yield of grains prior to the harvesting is also disclosed. In this case, a quality or yield related formula is established in advance and stored in the memory.

The invention provides a method for exchanging a plurality of sifter frames of a plan sifter. The steps of the method include a step, when taking out a number of sifter frames from a sifting chamber, of taking out a plurality of sifter frames in a unitary state with the unitary state being maintained to the outside of the machine frame, and a step, when accommodating new sifter frames in the sifting chamber, of stacking the sifter frames outside the machine frame and accommodating the unitary formed sifter frames in the sifting chamber. According to the method of the invention, the sifter frame exchange operation can be carried out in such a way as to reduce heavy labor and risk to workers, and such exchanging operation can be carried out in an easy manner.

A quality evaluation method for granular objects includes the steps of: irradiating objects from a front side and a back side; taking a reflection light image and a transmission light image from both the front and back sides of the objects; obtaining optical information of the objects by image-processing the reflection and transmission light images; obtaining shape information of the objects based on the optical information; determining the quality of each of the objects based on the optical information and the shape information; and counting the numbers of objects per quality and obtaining ratios of the objects per quality against the total number of objects. The data from the front and the back sides of the granular object are analyzed to enhance the precision of the results of the quality analysis, and in particular, to enhance the precision in detecting cracks.

Apparatus and method for evaluating quality of granular object

A husking apparatus supplies cereal grains between a pair of rotating rubber rolls through a guiding chute, rubs and husks them. A roll diameter marker for indicating an abrasion degree of the diameter of one of the rubber rolls is provided near the minimum gap between the rubber rolls. An incline angle changing marker previously marked with a changing degree of a position or an angle of incline of the guiding chute in correspondence to the roll diameter marker is provided near the lower end of the guiding chute. An operator can readily detect the diameter of the rubber roll by means of the roll diameter marker and accurately set the position or the angle of incline of the guiding chute in accordance with the incline angle changing marker.

A rotationally oscillating separator for separating mixed rice into unhulled rice and unpolished rice after the rice have passed through a rice huller to remove the hulls from rice. The separator comprises a vertical rotating shaft supported for rotation and having an axis, means for rotatively driving the rotating shaft, said rotating shaft including eccentric sections offset from the axis of the rotating shaft, separating vessels rotatably mounted on the eccentric sections and having a plurality of segmental separating plates disposed in a cone-shaped configuration within the separating vessels, retaining means on the separating vessels for preventing them from freely rotating, each of the eccentric sections having its axis, an upward extension of which is at a slight angle to the axis of the rotating shaft such that it intersects an extension of the axis of the rotating shaft at a point above its eccentric section, whereby the separating vessels are inclined relative to a horizon so that they are rotationally oscillated around the points of intersection between the extensions of the axes of the eccentric sections and the axis of the rotating shaft as phantom fulcrums, as the rotating shaft is rotated.

An apparatus for drying granular objects comprises, from the top of the apparatus, a holding section; a heating section for heating the granular objects flowing down from the holding section, the heating section being provided beneath the holding section and having a plurality of air ducts to which heated air is introduced; a drying air producing section connected to the air ducts, in which the heated air from the air ducts is mixed with air taken-in from the outside of the apparatus to produce a drying air; and a drying section for drying the granular objects by directly exposing the granular objects to the drying air. The dried granular objects are taken out from a taking-out section and returned to the holding section through a bucket elevator. The apparatus further comprises a detector for detecting the temperature of the drying air. Based on the detected temperature, a control device controls the temperature of the heated air so as to keep the temperature of the drying air to a predetermined temperature. The temperature of the drying air can be set to a desirable temperature while the heated air for the heating is kept at a high temperature. The drying operation is performed speedily and safely.
