According to one embodiment, a medical information processing method generates a high-contrast image by applying conversion processing to a first medical image captured by a first diagnostic apparatus and having a first contrast in a region of interest, the high-contrast image having a contrast higher than a contrast of a second medical image obtained by a second diagnostic apparatus. The method generates a pseudo second medical image by applying image processing to the high-contrast image, the pseudo second medical image simulating the second medical image and having a second contrast lower than the first contrast. The method trains a model using the pseudo second medical image as input data and the high-contrast image as ground truth data, and generates a trained model.

The imaging system is configured to perform an imaging process on an examined subject by emitting X-rays onto the examined subject. The processing circuitry is configured to execute the imaging process on the examined subject by controlling the imaging system in an imaging mode selected from between an X-ray fluoroscopy imaging mode for obtaining an X-ray projection fluoroscopic image of the examined subject and a Computed Tomography (CT) imaging mode for obtaining a CT image of the examined subject and is configured to perform a super resolution process corresponding to the imaging mode.

The processing circuitry generates second projection data by interpolating missing data in the first projection data based on the information on missing data. The processing circuitry generates third projection data by performing forward projection on the first reconstructed image. The processing circuitry generates fourth projection data by updating the second projection data based on the third projection data. According to one embodiment, an X-ray computed tomography apparatus includes an X-ray detector, data acquisition circuitry, and processing circuitry. The X-ray detector detects X-rays emitted by an X-ray tube and transmitted through an object and outputs an electrical signal concerning the detected X-rays. The data acquisition circuitry amplifies the electrical signal by a variable gain and acquires detection data based on the amplified electrical signal. The processing circuitry decides the gain and a modulation condition of a tube current in directional modulation scan based on body thickness information of the object.

According to one embodiment, an X-ray computed tomography apparatus includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry sets a parameter of an examination protocol. Based on the set parameter, the processing circuitry determines the number of acquisition views and the number of reconstruction views of projection data. The processing circuitry acquires first projection data corresponding to the number of acquisition views. The processing circuitry calculates second projection data corresponding to the number of reconstruction views based on the first projection data. The processing circuitry reconstructs a CT image based on the second projection data.

An apparatus and method of denoising a dynamic image is provided. The dynamic image can represent a time-series of snapshot images. The dynamic image is transformed, using a sparsifying transformation, into an aggregate image and a series of transform-domain images. The transform-domain images represent kinetic information of the dynamic images (i.e., differences between the snapshots), and the aggregate image represents static information (i.e., features and structure common among the snapshots). The transform-domain images, which can be approximated using a sparse approximation method, are denoised. The denoised transform-domain images are recombined with the aggregate image using an inverse sparsifying transformation to generate a denoised dynamic image. The transform-domain images can be denoised using at least one of a principal component analysis method and a K-SVD method.

The gantry includes an X-ray tube generating X-rays and an X-ray detector detecting the X-rays transmitted through a subject. The bed arranged at a front surface side of the gantry includes a top plate moving toward an opening of the gantry. The input interface circuitry inputs an imaging plan concerning imaging of the subject. The control circuitry controls the bed to limit movement of the top plate when the input interface circuitry inputs an imaging plan to image part of the subject inserted from a back surface side of the gantry into the opening.

X-ray computed tomography apparatus, a top-plate control apparatus, and a top-plate control method

A method and apparatus is provided to perform material decomposition based on spectral computed tomography (CT) projection data generated using registered reconstructed images. Registration is performed in the image domain, whereas material decomposition is performed in the sinogram domain. In the sinogram domain, material decomposition can include beam-hardening corrections. For at least two energy components, CT images are reconstructed, and registration is performed among the CT images. In certain implementations, the registered images are forward projected, and material decomposition is based on the resultant forward projections. In other implementations, motion images are generated from differences between the reconstructed CT images pre- and post-registration. The projection data is then corrected using forward projections of the motion images, and material decomposition is performed using the motion-corrected projection data.

Apparatus and method for registration and reprojection-based material decomposition for spectrally resolved computed tomography

A computed tomography (CT) imaging apparatus for performing a scanogram includes a radiation source to emit X-rays; a plurality of photon-counting detectors (PCDs) arranged in a circular ring between the radiation source and a CT detector; and processing circuitry to perform a first scan to obtain projection data; determine a plurality of dark channels by comparing the obtained projection data to a predetermined threshold; add at least one adjacent padding channel to the determined plurality of dark channels to determine a plurality of shadowed channels; generate a correction map from the determined plurality of shadowed channels; and correct a scanogram obtained by a second scan based on the generated correction map. The apparatus reduces the shadow effects in the scanogram scan.

Method for scanogram scans in photon-counting computed tomography

An apparatus and method for obtaining a thick-slice image from tilted thin-slice computed-tomography (CT) projection data. Tilted CT projection data is obtained for a series of projection planes, wherein the projection planes are parallel for all scans, and the translation direction between CT scans is not orthogonal to the projection planes (i.e., the projection planes are tilted relative to the translation direction between CT scans). Thin-slice images are reconstructed from the respective CT scans, and then grouped into thick-slice groupings. An offset results among the thin-slice images within a thick-slice grouping due to the tilt of the projection planes. This offset is compensated by interpolating and resampling the thin-slice images onto non-offset pixel grids. The interpolated and resampled thin-slice images are then averaged pixel-by-pixel to obtain thick-slice images having the same tilt angle as the thin-slice images.

A computed tomography (CT) image apparatus includes an X-ray source to emit X-rays; and processing circuitry configured to receive a desired detectability index set by a user, the desired detectability index determining for a desired image quality of a CT scan of an object; determine an X-ray tube current that will result in the desired detectability index set by the user; and cause the X-ray source to perform a scan of the object using the determined tube current.

An apparatus and method of processing cone-beam X-ray projection data using a short-scan method (e.g., filtered back projection and weighting the projection data using the Parker weights for projection angles spanning 180&#xb0; plus the fan angle) to reconstruct an image. Imaging artifacts in the short-scan image are corrected by combining the short scan image with a correction image. The correction image is obtained by applying an asymmetric filter to the difference between the short-scan image and a full-scan image, the full scan image being obtained using image reconstruction of the full-scan projection data. In one implementation, the asymmetric filter is a low-pass filter that, in the spatial domain, is foreshortened along a center-view axis corresponding to the short scan.

In the X-ray CT system according to an embodiment, a control means displaces and images imaging regions in the subject by controlling a top board driver and an imaging means such that the X-rays are projected onto the subject every time a top board is moved by a predetermined transfer amount. An acquiring means acquires projection data of the respective imaging regions. A reconstruction means, based on the projection data, reconstructs tomographic images for each predetermined size of a reconstruction region. In the scan control mode, the control means outputs the transfer amount corresponding to this mode to the top board driver. In the reconstruction control mode, the control means outputs the size of the reconstruction region corresponding to this mode to the reconstruction means.
