A cathode ray tube includes an electron gun having plural focus electrodes and an anode in its neck portion, a voltage-dividing resistor for producing an intermediate voltage applied to a first one of the focus electrodes adjacent to the anode by dividing an anode voltage, a metal conductor attached to a second one of the focus electrodes to surround the voltage-dividing resistor, and a metal film on an insulating substrate of the voltage-dividing resistor between the metal conductor and an intermediate-voltage terminal of the voltage-dividing resistor. The second one of the focus electrodes is disposed upstream of the first one of the focus electrodes, and the metal film extends at least 1 mm axially and is spaced at least 1 mm from the metal conductor.

Cathode ray tube having an internal voltage-dividing resistor

A color cathode ray tube includes an electron gun having cathode structures arrayed in line with a cup-shaped first grid electrode. Each of the cathode structures is fused and fixed to a cathode in an electrically insulated state by hermetic glass. A cathode support to which the cathode structures are fixed by glass is fixedly housed in the cup-shaped first grid electrode, and the first grid electrode and the cathode support are welded on an axis along which the cathode structures are arrayed. The cathode structures and the first grid electrode are welded on an inline axis so that the thermal deformation of the cathode support can be made uniform at the center portion and at side portions. Accordingly, at the start-up time of the color cathode ray tube, the cathode currents at the center portion and at the side portions can be equalized and a good color balance can be maintained on the screen.

Color cathode ray tube

A cathode ray tube includes an electron gun having a cathode, first and second grid electrodes, plural focus electrodes and an anode electrode fixed by two glass beads; a voltage-dividing resistor attached to one glass bead for producing an intermediate voltage applied to a first one of the plural focus electrodes adjacent to the anode electrode by dividing an anode voltage and a metal conductor attached to one of electrodes of the electron gun disposed upstream of the first one of the plural focus electrodes to surround the voltage-dividing resistor and the glass bead. The voltage-dividing resistor includes an overcoat insulating film, a resistance element and an insulating substrate stacked in the order named from the overcoat insulating film facing the glass bead, and the resistance element includes first-type resistance-forming regions disposed on opposite sides of the metal conductor and a second-type resistance-forming region containing a portion thereof facing the metal conductor. The resistance element in the first-type resistance-forming regions extends meanderingly in a direction of a tube axis, and the resistance element in the second-type resistance-forming region is configured such that minimum distances L1 and L2 between the resistance element and two long sides of the insulating substrate, respectively, are larger than corresponding minimum distances between the resistance element and two long sides of the insulating substrate in the first-type resistance-forming regions.

Cathode ray tube having an internal voltage-divider resistor

A cathode ray tube includes an evacuated envelope having a panel portion having a phosphor screen, a neck portion and a funnel portion connecting the panel portion and the neck portion; an electron gun housed in the neck portion having a cathode, a first grid electrode, a second grid electrode, plural focus electrodes and an anode arranged in the order named and fixed in predetermined axially spaced relationship by two glass beads; a voltage-dividing resistor attached to one of the two glass beads for producing an intermediate voltage to be applied to a first one of the plural focus electrodes adjacent to the anode by dividing a voltage applied to the anode; and a metal conductor facing and attached to a second one of the plural focus electrodes to surround the voltage-dividing resistor and the one of the two glass beads, the second one of the plural focus electrodes being disposed upstream of the first one of the plural focus electrodes. The voltage-dividing resistor includes a first overcoat insulating film, a resistance element, an insulating substrate and a second overcoat insulating film stacked in the order named from the first overcoat insulating film facing the one of the two glass beads, and a portion of the second overcoat insulating film containing a region thereof facing the metal conductor is made locally thicker than a remainder of the second overcoat insulating film.

A color cathode ray tube is provided with an electron gun having a voltage-dividing resistor having a stable and good voltage supplying function. The voltage-dividing resistor has an insulating substrate on which a resistor pattern and a terminal-connecting conductive film are formed, and a terminal having a first flange portion, a connecting portion, a tubular portion and a second flange portion. The first flange portion partly has a convex portion for electrical connection to the terminal-connecting conductive film, and the second flange portion is doubled. This construction provides reliable electrical connection between the terminal and the terminal-connecting conductive film.

An electron gun in which at least two of a plurality of electrodes constituting the electron gun are endowed with structures for generating rotationally-asymmetric electric fields, in electron-beam apertures of the electrodes or around the electron-beam apertures, and a cathode-ray tube which comprises the electron gun can enhance focus characteristics and attain favorable resolutions over the whole area of a screen and in all the current ranges of electron beams, and they do not give rise to moire in the small current range of the electron beams, without supplying a dynamic focus voltage.

At least one of grid electrodes which serves as a main lens of an electron gun for use in a color cathode ray tube is divided into a plurality of cylindrical electrodes coaxially connected. An inner electrode is provided at the connection part between the cylindrical electrodes so that the center of an elliptical aperture of the inner electrode coincides with the center of an inner wall of the grid electrode. Thus, astigmatism in the main lens is removed, thereby improving the resolution of the color cathode ray tube.

The beam current control section includes a cathode, a first grid and a second grid with an electron beam limiting diaphragm in this order. The main lens section includes third, fourth and fifth grids in the form of cylindrical electrodes disposed in this order. Around the cylindrical envelope is mounted a magnetic deflection coil whose length along the envelope axis is 0.18 to 0.40 times the distance from the beam limiting diaphragm to the mesh electrode.
