A film () includes hollow particles () and a binder (). The hollow particles are made of a material having a refractive index of 1.15 to 2.70. The binder () is formed of at least a polysilsesquioxane and binds the hollow particles (). The film () satisfies at least one of requirements Ib/Ia≥0.7 and Ib/Ic≥0.3. Ia is an absorbance derived from a hydrocarbon group not directly bonded to a silicon atom, the absorbance being determined by attenuated total reflection using a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer. Ib is an absorbance derived from a bond between a silicon atom and a non-reactive functional group. Ic is an absorbance derived from a bond between a silicon atom and a hydroxy group.

An erecting equal-magnification lens array plate includes: first and second lens array plates; first, second and intermediate light shielding member. The first, second and intermediate light shielding member are halved by a splitting plane parallel with the main scanning direction. One of the first light shielding member pieces, one of the second light shielding member pieces, and one of the intermediate light shielding member pieces produced by halving the members are integrated to form a first holder piece. The other of the first light shielding member pieces, the other of the second light shielding member pieces, and the other of the intermediate light shielding member pieces produced by halving the members are integrated to form a second holder piece. The erecting equal-magnification lens array plate is assembled by sandwiching the first lens array plate and the second lens array plate by the first holder piece and the second holder piece.

A thin-film structure includes plate-shaped metals or plate-shaped structures in which a plate-shaped metal and a plate-shaped dielectric are in contact. The plate-shaped metal or structures are formed on a transparent base having a surface with line-shaped corrugated structures. The thin-film structure has characteristics suitable for polarizers used in liquid crystal projectors and the like.
