A vehicle control apparatus is to be applied to a vehicle including a torque converter and an engine. The vehicle control apparatus includes a turbine hub, a lock-up piston, a damper mechanism, and a control system. The damper mechanism permits relative rotation between a hub of the turbine hub and a cylindrical part of the lock-up piston. The control system controls the engine. The control system calculates, with the lock-up piston engaged with a crankshaft of the engine, a PV value that is a product of a sliding surface pressure and a sliding speed between the hub and the cylindrical part. When the PV value is greater than a threshold, the control system changes an engine torque more gradually than when the PV value is equal to or less than the threshold. The engine torque is an output torque of the crankshaft.

In an electric storage device, lithium electrodes are disposed on respective outermost portions of an electrode laminated unit in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are laminated alternately via positive/negative electrode separators. The lithium electrode includes lithium metal serving as a lithium ion supply source, and a lithium electrode separator (a non-woven fabric separator) constituted by a non-woven fabric that satisfies the following conditions: (a) an average fiber diameter of 0.1 &#x3bc;m to 10 &#x3bc;m; and (b) a thickness of 5 &#x3bc;m to 500 &#x3bc;m is provided. By forming the lithium electrode separator that contacts the lithium electrode including the lithium ion supply source from a non-woven fabric in this manner, a dramatic improvement can be achieved in the cycle characteristic of the electric storage device.

A fixing band-tightening apparatus comprises a holding section for gripping a shaft section at both ends in an axial direction, the holding section being provided rotatably in a circumferential direction in accordance with a driving action of a rotary driving source, a stopper section arranged in a lateral direction substantially horizontal with respect to the holding section, for positioning a projection of a fixing band in the lateral direction except for a vertical direction, and a band-tightening section for forcibly nipping the projection of the fixing band positioned by the stopper section to tighten the fixing band.

A constant velocity universal joint includes an inner roller and a trunnion. The inner roller has a chamfered portion formed by an inclined surface inclined at an angle not less than an assembling angle &thgr;. The inclined surface extends from a starting point defined by a crossing point of a spherical recess of the inner roller and a short radius r of an elliptic cutout formed on the inner roller.

When forcibly mounting a fixture attached with a joint boot on an outer circumferential surface of an outer cup, a thick-walled section is pressed between an inclined surface of the outer cup and an annular stepped section of the fixture. Accordingly, the thick-walled section is elastically deformed and in close contact with the inclined surface for effecting sealing function.

A constant velocity universal joint comprises trunnions each of which expands toward a guide groove and each of which is provided with a spherical surface along a circumferential direction, inner rollers each of which has a recess having a spherical surface formed on an inner circumferential surface to make surface-to-surface contact corresponding to the spherical surface, and outer rollers each of which is externally fitted to the inner roller via needle bearings and each of which is provided relatively displaceably with respect to the inner roller along an axial direction (direction of the arrow B) of the trunnion.

A constant velocity universal joint includes a plurality of trunnions formed to have a spherical configuration and expanding toward guide grooves, cylindrical holders for surrounding the trunnions, to which roller members displaceable along said guide grooves are externally fitted, and cutouts formed on surfaces of the trunnions.
