According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate including a plurality of pixels, a second substrate opposed comprising a plurality of color filters and a light-shielding layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The plurality of pixels include a plurality of first pixels arranged in an oblique direction and a plurality of second pixels adjacent to each of the plurality of first pixels. The plurality of color filters include a first color filter extending in the oblique direction to overlap with the plurality of first pixels and a second color filter extending in the oblique direction to overlap with the plurality of second pixels. The light-shielding layer extends to overlap with a boundary portion between the first and second color filters.

Display device and color filter substrate

According to an aspect, a detection device includes: a substrate; a plurality of photodiodes provided to the substrate and arranged in a first direction; a plurality of lenses provided so as to overlap the photodiodes; and a light-blocking layer provided between the photodiodes and the lenses and having a plurality of openings. More than one of the openings is provided in each of regions overlapping the respective photodiodes, and an arrangement direction of the openings in each of the regions overlapping the respective photodiodes is at an angle to the first direction.

Detection device

Purpose is to realize a display device of high definition and high response speed. The structure is as follows. A liquid crystal display device including: scanning lines extending in a first direction and being arranged in a second direction, video signal lines extending in the second direction and being arranged in the first direction, and a pixel being surrounded by the scanning lines and the video signal lines, in which a pixel electrode is formed in the pixel, the pixel electrode includes a first portion including comb electrode, a second portion including contact portion to receive electrical signal, and a third portion, the third portion protrudes toward an adjacent pixel electrode compared with the first portion and the second portion, and a normal of a side toward the adjacent pixel electrode of the third portion intersects with the first direction and the second direction with an angle other than 0 and 90 degrees.

Liquid crystal display device

In an IPS mode liquid crystal display device, an interlayer insulating film is formed on a common electrode formed in a planar shape, and a pixel electrode is formed on the interlayer insulating film. The distance between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate is determined by a columnar spaces. The pixel electrode includes one comb-shaped electrode and a contact part. The tip of the comb-shaped, electrode overlaps the columnar spacer as seen in a plan view. The columnar spacer is present in, the area in which an electric field that allows the liquid crystal molecules to rotate backward occurs when a voltage is applied to the pixel electrode, so that the reverse rotation of the liquid crystal molecules does not occur, and it is possible to prevent the domain from occurring.

In an IPS mode liquid crystal display device, an interlayer insulating film is formed on a common electrode formed in a planar shape, and a pixel electrode is formed on the interlayer insulating film. The columnar spacer is present in the area in which an electric field that allows the liquid crystal molecules to rotate backward occurs when a voltage is applied to the pixel electrode, so that the reverse rotation of the liquid crystal molecules does not occur, and it is possible to prevent the domain from occurring.

According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device, include a first substrate includes a first pixel electrode including m first strip electrodes, a second pixel electrode including m second strip electrodes, a third pixel electrode including n third strip electrodes, a fourth pixel electrode including m fourth strip electrodes, a fifth pixel electrode including m fifth strip electrodes, and a sixth pixel electrode including n sixth strip electrodes, m and n being positive integers and unequal to each other.

A display device is provided which includes a lower substrate and an upper substrate. An inner surface of the lower substrate and an inner surface of the upper surface face each other. A polarizing plate is disposed on an outer surface of the upper substrate, wherein the polarizing plate includes at least an inside protective film, a polarizing film and an outside protective film, which are layered on the upper substrate side in this order so that the inside protective film is adjacent to the upper substrate. An expansion axis of the outside protective film forms an angle of 30&#xb0; or more and 90&#xb0; or less with an expansion axis of the polarizing film, and an expansion axis of the inside protective film forms an angle of 0&#xb0; or more and 3&#xb0; or less with an expansion axis of the polarizing film.

A display device having a pair of substrates provided so as to face each other and sandwich liquid crystal, and polarizing plates which are pasted to surfaces of the above described pair of substrates on the sides opposite to the above described liquid crystal, where the above described polarizing plates are formed of at least an inside protective film, a polarizing film and an outside protective film, which are layered on the above described substrate side in this order, an expansion axis of the above described outside protective films forms an angle of 30&#xb0; or more and 90&#xb0; or less with an expansion axis of the above described polarizing films, and an expansion axis of the above described inside protective films forms an angle of 0&#xb0; or more and 3&#xb0; or less with an expansion axis of the above described polarizing films.

Display device having polarizing plates with protective films

A liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate which is placed nearer to a viewer than the first substrate, and which faces a viewer side of the first substrate; a liquid crystal sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate; an upper polarization plate which is placed nearer to the viewer than the second substrate, and which faces a viewer side of the second substrate; and a transparent resin plate which is placed nearer to the viewer than the upper polarization plate, and which is attached to a viewer side of the upper polarization plate with one of an adhesive material and a bonding material, the transparent resin plate includes a transparent oxide film on a face that faces the upper polarization plate, and the transparent resin plate is in close contact with the adhesive material or the bonding material through the transparent oxide film.
