An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display, which can surely perform an instillation process used when liquid crystal is sealed between substrates in a cell process, and a fabrication method thereof. A liquid crystal display comprises a sealing materialmade of a photo-curing type material which seals liquid crystalsandwiched between substratesand, and a shading filmhaving a shading area which overlays a red-colored layertransmitting red light, a green-colored layertransmitting green light and a blue-colored layertransmitting blue light, wherein only the blue-colored layeris formed in an area of the shading film contacting with the sealing materialand the photo-curing type material of the sealing material is structured to have a light reactive area for a wavelength of blue color band.

Liquid crystal display and method of fabricating the same

A liquid crystal display comprises a sealing material made of a photo-curing type material which seals liquid crystal sandwiched between substrates, a shading filmhaving a shading area which overlays a red-colored layer transmitting red light, a green-colored layer transmitting green light and a blue-colored layer transmitting blue light. Only the blue-colored layer is formed in an area of the shading film contacting with the sealing material, and the photo-curing type material of the sealing material is structured to have a light reactive area for a wavelength of blue color band.

An image display panel is prepared which has in an in-plane thereof an image display area for displaying an image and a framing area surrounding the image display area. Light shielding ink is supplied from an ink supply source to at least a partial surface area of the framing area of the image display panel. In this case, the ink supply source is made not in contact with the image display panel. Even if the frame structure of an image display device such as a liquid crystal display is made narrow, the image quality in a peripheral area of the image display area becomes hard to be lowered.
