A cathode-ray tube includes a plate having a first hole on a first surface of the plate and a second hole on a second surface of the plate. The first and second holes coupled together to allow electron beams to pass therethrough. The plate is a unitary structure. The first hole is formed by initiating a first hole formation from the first surface, and the second hole is formed by initiating a second hole formation from the second surface. The first surface is on an opposing side of the second surface.

Cathode-ray tube and flat electrode of electronic gun and production method

A color cathode ray tube having an electron gun which includes a one piece electrode plate. The one piece electrode plate has three beam passage holes in an in-line arrangement and bead supports. The one piece electrode plate has two portions including a portion having the beam passage holes and a portion having the bead supports which are formed as a one piece structure. The portion having the beam passage holes has a thickness larger than a thickness of the bead supports portion and the one piece structure has steps and continuous walls between the two portions.

Cathode ray tube having one piece electrode plate with inclined and continuous steps

A cathode-ray tube having an electron gun which includes an electrode plate (E) in which a portion having three beam passage holes (H) and a portion having bead supports (S) are formed as a unitary or one piece structure, the two portions having different thicknesses (T.sub.1, T.sub.2), and the steps being inclinedly formed along the boundaries of the two portions. Since the portion having beam passage holes and the portion having bead supports are formed as a unitary or one piece structure easily and highly precisely in the electrode plate, the conventionally employed process of welding can be omitted, and thereby the productivity is raised and the manufacturing cost is decreased. Moreover, use of the material having the steps formed in advance contributes to increasing the productivity and preventing the machining tools from being damaged during the press-forming.

Cathode-ray tube having unitary electrode plate of different thicknesses

An electron gun which has an assembly precision improved by the reduction of deformation of an electrode during assembly as well as good focusing performance due to the elimination of positional deviation of electron beams. The electron gun comprises a composite electrode including at least two electrode elements united together and a plurality of electrodes sequentially arrayed along a single axis at predetermined intervals. In the electron gun, opposed faces of the electrode elements of the composite electrode are perpendicular to the axis and the opposed faces are provided with projections which serve to constitute the composite electrode when the projections are united together in opposed relationship to each other.

At least one of grid electrodes which serves as a main lens of an electron gun for use in a color cathode ray tube is divided into a plurality of cylindrical electrodes coaxially connected. An inner electrode is provided at the connection part between the cylindrical electrodes so that the center of an elliptical aperture of the inner electrode coincides with the center of an inner wall of the grid electrode. Thus, astigmatism in the main lens is removed, thereby improving the resolution of the color cathode ray tube.

A method of fabricating an electrode of a color picture tube electron gun, the electrode having an aperture for passing an electron beam and having a recess formed in a surface of a single metal plate, comprises the steps of forming in the metal plate a laterally elongated through hole being substantially symmetrical with the axis of the electron beam pass aperture and having a major diameter in a longitudinal direction of the recess, before the recess is formed, forming the recess at a peripheral wall area of the laterally elongated through hole through a coining process, and forming the electron beam pass aperture by removing a wall portion of the through hole existing after completion of the coining process to form a through hole of a predetermined shape.

Method of fabricating electrode of color picture tube electron gun

An electrode of a color picture tube electron gun with a recess provided on the periphery of an electron beam pass aperture, characterized in that the electrode has a thickness of 0.4 to 1.0 times the diameter of the electron beam pass aperture at the portion at which the recess is to be formed and a thickness of 0.1 to 0.2 times the diameter of the electron beam pass aperture at the recessed portion, and the sheet material for the electrode is subjected to plastic working so that the recess forming surface has a thickness of 25 to 50% the thickness of the sheet material or a projection and/or a groove having a section with steeply inclined side portions is provided on both sides of the recess at least in the direction of the width of the recess approximate to the diameter of the electron beam pass aperture.

Electron gun electrode for a color picture tube

An electrode structure for an electron gun, especially an in-line type electrode structure for an electron gun of a color picture tube. The electrode structure dispenses with auxiliary electrodes and its three cylindrical members are integrally formed by press work. After the pressing step, the inner edge of the bottom portion of each cylindrical members is beveled to provide a tapering surface having a desired circular cross section. By forming a circular groove in the bottom portion, opposite to the tapering surface, the formation of the tapering surface is made more exact.

Electrode structure for electron gun

A method for producing an electrode structure for use in an electron gun, especially an in-line type electrode structure for use an electron gun of a color picture tube. The electrode structure dispenses with auxiliary electrodes by forming its three cylindrical members integrally by press work. After the pressing step, the inner edge of the bottom portion of each of the cylindrical members is beveled to provide a tapering surface having a desired circular cross section. By forming a circular groove in the bottom portion, opposite to the tapering surface, the formation of the tapering surface is made more exact.

Method of producing itegral electrode structure for electron gun

An electron gun electrode of a color picture tube is manufactured by forming three spaced openings through a metal plate; squeezing the metal plate to form three inverted cup shaped cylindrical projections having the openings at their top centers; coining inner peripheries of the openings to enlarge the same and to form bevelled portions around the peripheries of the enlarged openings; and increasing inner diameters of the cylindrical projections thereby obtaining the electrode integrally formed with three adjacent cylindrical projections.
