The positioning of elements of a broken word can be corrected by receiving an optical character recognition (OCR) conversion of a printed publication and identifying multiple parts of the broken word from the OCR conversion to output in a graphical user interface (GUI). The multiple parts can be placed in the GUI using original positioning data for the printed publication. A user can make a selection in the GUI indicating that multiple parts from the OCR conversion are of the broken word and can automatically adjust bounds of the multiple parts to form a corrected word.

System for detecting and correcting broken words

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for pre-rendering content in one or more secondary content buffers to reduce the amount of time required to display the pre-rendered content on a device. Determination of an underlying grid structure that facilitates layout of East Asian text is disclosed. The underlying grid structure includes both a size of character frames and a size of a text block frame. The East Asian text may be obtained from a scan of printed material that has the text formatted according to layout conventions established by the publisher. The text may be reformatted to appear on a display of an electronic device in a manner similar to the formatting in the original scanned document. Reformatting may include reflowing the text in order to fit a greater or lesser number of characters on a line. The reflowing may maintain character spacing from the original document and follow formatting rules against locating certain characters at the start or end of a line.

Alignment and reflow of displayed character images

A method for rendering ruby characters in an electronic document of Japanese and other language text includes identifying a ruby character at a line boundary in a text layout for the electronic document, identifying a type of the ruby character, and, based on the type, repositioning the ruby character and an associated base character within the line or within an adjacent line if the line does not have enough space for the ruby character.

Systems and methods are provided for optimizing a glyph-based file. Individual components may be identified within glyphs of a file. Each identified component within a glyph may be a portion of the glyph, and may be a joint component or disjoint component. Groupings of components may then be determined, where the groupings are determined based at least in part by identifying similarly shaped components. A representative component may then be selected from each grouping. Composite glyphs may be generated and stored in an optimized file, where each composite glyph includes a reference to at least one representative component.

Embodiments of methods, systems, and storage medium associated with processing of digital images including character recognition are disclosed herein. In one instance, the method may include identifying at least some components of a plurality of characters included in a digital image of content, based at least in part on comparison of a vector representation of each component with predefined component shape patterns; and determining one or more characters from the identified components. The determining may be based at least in part on evaluating the identified components using predetermined combination rules that define the one or more characters based at least in part on relationships between the one or more components in the identified plurality of characters. Processing digital images including character recognition using ontological  rules

Embodiments of methods, systems, and storage medium associated with providing diagnostic information are disclosed herein. In one instance, the method may include applying a pattern to a log line included in a log file accessible by the computing device, to determine whether there is a match between the log line and the pattern. The pattern may be one of a plurality of patterns included in a collection of previously accumulated diagnostic information including one or more relationship descriptions between the pattern and other ones of the plurality of patterns. The method may further include generating and storing one or more additional relationship descriptions in response to determination of a match for the pattern. The additional relationship descriptions may indicate connections between the matched pattern and at least some other patterns included in the diagnostic information.
