Present embodiments pertain to an improved electrostatographic imaging member having low contact friction surfaces to ease sliding mechanical interaction and suppressing abrasion/wear failure and methods of preparing thereof. The improved imaging member has layers comprising one or two low surface energy polymeric materials that enhance the physical and mechanical functions and reduce the layers surface contact friction of the imaging member to extend service life.

Low friction electrostatographic imaging member

An imaging member including a substrate; thereover a charge generating layer; thereover a first charge transport layer comprising a small molecule charge transport material and a polymeric component selected from the group consisting of polyarylamine polyester, polyacylamine, and mixtures and combinations thereof; and a second charge transport layer disposed over the first charge transport layer, the second charge transport layer comprising a small molecule charge transport material and a binder, wherein the second charge transport layer is free of polyarylamine polyester and polyacylamine.

Imaging members and process for preparing same

Imaging members useful in electrostatographic apparatuses, including printers, copiers, other reproductive devices, and digital apparatuses. More particularly, imaging members having a binder of high molecular weight that is included in one or more layers of an imaging member to impart coating consistency and to provide for increased mechanical strength and improved wear.

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to overcoat layers useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an electrostatographic imaging member with an improved overcoat layer including a polymeric binder that lowers the surface energy involved and reduces friction.

Imaging member

A flexible imaging member which does not require the use of an anti-curl back coating is disclosed herein. The flexible imaging member has a layer comprising two charge transport molecules dispersed in a film-forming polymer binder. The first charge transport molecule is a biphenyl amine, terphenyl diamine, or bis(triarylamine) stilbene. The second charge transport molecule is a bis(triarylamine), tri-p-tolylamine, or triphenylamine. The weight ratio of second charge transport molecule to first charge transport molecule is from about 90:10 to about 67:33. Trifluoro acetic acid is also added to the layer containing the charge transport material.

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to anticurl back coatings useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an electrophotographic imaging member with an improved anticurl back coating formulated by a polymer blend comprising two low surface energy polymeric materials that prevents curling, renders surface lubricity, eliminates electrostatic charge buildup, reduces surface contact friction, and enhances abrasion/wear resistance, and a process for making and using the imaging member.

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to charge transport layers useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an electrostatographic imaging member with an improved charge transport layer including a polymeric binder that lowers the surface energy involved and reduces friction.

A photoconductor containing an optional supporting substrate, a photogenerating layer, and at least one charge transport layer comprised of at least one charge transport component wherein the at least one charge transport component is comprised of aryl amine molecules of the formula wherein X and Y are each independently alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, a halogen, and wherein the photogenerating layer contains a titanyl phthalocyanine prepared by dissolving a Type I titanyl phthalocyanine in a solution comprising a trihaloacetic acid and an alkylene halide; adding the mixture comprising the dissolved Type I titanyl phthalocyanine to a solution comprising an alcohol and an alkylene halide thereby precipitating a Type Y titanyl phthalocyanine; and treating the Type Y titanyl phthalocyanine with monohalobenzene.

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to anticurl backing layers useful in electrostatography. More particularly, the embodiments pertain to an electrostatographic imaging member with an improved anticurl backing layer including a low surface energy polymeric material to prevent curling and reduce friction, and a process for making and using the member.

A weldable intermediate transfer belt having a substrate with a homogeneous composition of polyaniline in an amount of from about 2 to about 25 percent by weight of total solids, and a thermoplastic polyimide in an amount of from about 75 to about 98 percent by weight of total solids, and the polyaniline has a particle size of from about 0.5 to about 5.0 microns, and an apparatus for forming images on a recording medium and incorporating the intermediate transfer belt.

An electrostatographic imaging member having a charge-retentive surface and a substrate, an imaging layer to receive an electrostatic latent image thereon, wherein the imaging layer is positioned on one side of the substrate, and an anti-curl backing layer positioned on the substrate on a side opposite to that of the imaging layer, wherein the anti-curl backing layer has a polymer binder and lignin sulfonic acid doped polyaniline, and an image forming apparatus having the above imaging member or photoreceptor to receive an electrostatic latent image on a charge-retentive surface of the photoreceptor or imaging member; a development component to apply toner to the charge-retentive surface to develop the electrostatic latent image to form a developed image on the charge-retentive surface; a transfer member to transfer the developed image from the charge-retentive surface to a copy substrate; and a fixing component to fuse the developed image to the copy substrate.

An electrostatographic imaging member having a flexible supporting substrate, an imaging layer capable of retaining an electrostatic latent image, and an electrically conductive ground strip layer comprising a film forming binder and a lignin sulfonic acid doped polyaniline dispersion, and an image forming apparatus with the above imaging member to receive an electrostatic latent image on a charge-retentive surface of the imaging member; a development component to apply toner to the charge-retentive surface to develop the electrostatic latent image to form a developed toner image on the charge-retentive surface; a transfer component to transfer the developed toner image from the charge-retentive surface to a receiving copy substrate; and a fixing component to fuse the developed image to the receiving copy substrate.

A belt having a substrate with a first binder and a lignin sulfonic acid doped polyaniline dispersion, along with an image forming apparatus for forming images on a recording medium and having a charge-retentive surface to receive an electrostatic latent image thereon, a development component to apply toner to the charge-retentive surface to develop the electrostatic latent image to form a developed toner image on the charge retentive surface, a transfer member to transfer the developed image from the charge retentive surface to a copy substrate, and the transfer member has a substrate with a binder and a dispersion of lignin sulfonic acid doped polyaniline, and further, a fixing component to fuse the developed image to the copy substrate.
