Aspects relate to a control message that includes at least one symbol mask to be applied to a set of symbols of a time slot. In some examples, the control message may also include at least one resource element mask to be applied to at least one resource element of the time slot. In some aspects, information may be communicated during the time slot according to the at least one symbol mask.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for signal compression. Certain aspects described in this disclosure can be implemented in a method for wireless communication by a distributed unit (DU). The method generally includes compressing at least one reference signal (RS) in one or more first set of resource elements (REs) of a symbol and data in one or more second set of REs of the symbol, wherein the at least one RS is compressed using a first compression type and the data is compressed using a second compression type, and wherein the first compression type is different than the second compression type; and sending, to a radio unit (RU), the symbol having the at least one RS in the one or more first set of REs and the data in the one or more second set of REs compressed using the first and second compression types, respectively.

Compression techniques for data and reference signal resource elements (REs)

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for performing phase compensation. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) can receive, from a network node, a configuration indicating a reduced number of multiple configured component carrier (CCs) over which to process one or more phase tracking reference signals (PTRSs) for performing phase compensation for the multiple configured CCs, receiving, over the reduced number of multiple configured CCs, the one or more PTRSs, and performing, based on the one or more PTRSs, phase compensation for the multiple configured CCs. In other aspects, the network node can transmit the configuration and/or the one or more PTRSs.

Techniques for performing phase tracking for multiple component carriers

This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for PT-RS configurations in persistent, semi-persistent, and aggregated modes of transmission. A first wireless device may be configured to communicate with a second wireless device based on a configuration in which one or more reception slots follow a transmission period or a gap period. The first wireless device may receive, from the second wireless device, communication in the one or more reception slots following the transmission period or the gap period with a reference signal configuration that is different than at least one additional reception slot.

PT-RS configuration in semi-persistent or aggregated mode of transmission for increased throughput and reliability

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may receive an indication of a non-uniform density associated with a phase-tracking reference signal (PT-RS). Accordingly, the UE may transmit, or receive, within a slot, wherein the slot includes the PT-RS at the non-uniform density across a plurality of symbols of the slot. For example, the non-uniform density may be applied based on an offset between the slot and a previous downlink slot including a demodulation reference signal. Numerous other aspects are described.

Varying densities for phase-tracking reference signals

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The UE receives an indication of a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) hopping offset from a network entity. The UE may process PTRSs transmitted in different transmissions across multiple symbols or time slots. In one example, processing the PTRSs may include transmitting the PTRSs in uplink (UL) slots. In another example, processing the PTRSs may include monitoring for the PTRSs in downlink (DL) slots. Frequency resources for the PTRSs may change across the different transmissions based on the PTRS hopping offset.

Decoding reliability for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundled transmission using phase tracking reference signal (PTRS) hopping

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit a first random access preamble to a base station and may transmit a payload associated with the first random access preamble via a first random access message as part of a two-step random access procedure. The base station may receive the first random access message and attempt to detect the first random access preamble. The base station may identify multiple random access preamble indices based on a detected random access preamble and may perform multiple decoding attempts on the payload portion of the first random access message using the multiple random access preamble indices. The base station may perform the multiple decoding attempts sequentially until one decoding attempt is successful or may perform the multiple decoding attempts in parallel.

Techniques for assisted message decoding

The apparatus may be a UE. The UE may be configured to receive, from a second UE, an indication of a first DC location corresponding to a first subcarrier of multiple subcarriers. The UE may further be configured to decode at least one transmission from the second UE based on the received indication of the first DC location corresponding to the first subcarrier. The UE may also be configured to receive a request for a second DC location and to transmit, to the second UE, an indication of a second DC location corresponding to a second subcarrier of the multiple subcarriers. The UE may, in some aspects, further be configured to receive, from a base station, signaling relating to a transmission of a DC location between sidelink UEs.

Direct current location sharing between unicast user equipments in sidelink

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamic configuration of demodulation reference signals (DMRSs). A method that may be performed by a base station (BS) includes receiving one or more uplink signals from at least one user equipment (UE); estimating a Doppler shift associated with the one or more uplink signals; determining a density of reference signals (RSs) within a slot for the at least one UE based, at least in part, on the estimated Doppler shift associated with the one or more uplink signals; and transmitting information to the at least one UE indicating an allocation of RS resources for the UE, wherein the allocation of the RS resources is based on the density of the RSs for the at least one UE.

Dynamic configuration of DMRS

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may extract, from a neighboring base station with cell coverage that overlaps cell coverage of the base station, information associated with user equipment (UE) transmission of MsgA messages. The base station may select, based at least in part on the information, a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource to allocate to a UE for transmission of a MsgA message. The base station may transmit, to the UE, an allocation of the PUSCH resource. Numerous other aspects are described.

Base station resource selection for two step random access procedure

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a base station may recover a UE from a Msg3 failure during an RA procedure. During the RA procedure, the base station may transmit a RAR message to the UE and in response to the RAR message the UE may transmit an uplink message (e.g., Msg3) to the base station over a first resource indicated in the RAR message. If the base station fails to decode or receive the uplink message over the first resource, the base station may transmit a grant to the UE indicating a second resource for retransmitting the uplink message and the UE may retransmit uplink message to the base station according to the grant.

Techniques for recovering from a random access message failure

An open radio access network (O-RAN) may include a control unit that communicates with a core network, a distributed unit that communicates with the control unit, a radio unit that communicates with the distributed unit and a user equipment (UE). Currently, the O-RAN may lack support for static configuration for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) communication of message-A in a third generation partnership project (3GPP) two-step random access procedure. Hence, according to some aspects of the disclosure, the distributed unit may receive, from a radio unit, a static configuration support indication for receiving payload data via a message in a two-step random access procedure, the message including a preamble and the payload data. The distributed unit may further transmit, in response to receiving the static configuration support indication, static configuration information to the radio unit, the static configuration information for receiving the payload data communicated via the message.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a base station may extract information from a neighboring base station with cell coverage that overlaps cell coverage of the base station. The base station may determine, from the information, one or more locations of control resource sets (CORESETs) used by the neighboring base station. The base station may select resources that do not overlap with the CORESETs used by the neighboring base station. The base station may transmit a communication using the selected resources. Numerous other aspects are described.

Base station resource selection

A base station (BS) may receive at least one system information block (SIB) from one or more neighbor BSs, extract a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) common configuration from the SIB for each of the one or more neighbor BSs, and select one or more PUCCH common configuration parameters for the BSs to avoid having a same PUCCH common configuration as the one or more neighbor base stations, the same PUCCH common configuration including at least one of a PUCCH hopping parameter or a common PUCCH resource.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Aspects of the present disclosure relate to an in-coverage user equipment (UE) relaying broadcast messages to out-of-coverage UEs using one or more messaging techniques over a sidelink channel. The in-coverage UE may monitor for broadcast messages to relay the broadcast messages to out-of-coverage UEs. In some cases, the in-coverage UE may determine to relay broadcast messages to the out-of-coverage UEs based on one or more metrics. Additionally, the in-coverage UE may determine whether the broadcast message is to be included in a groupcast, broadcast, or unicast signaling. Based on the determination to relay broadcast messages, as well as whether the alert message is to be included in a groupcast, broadcast, or unicast signaling, the in-coverage UE may leverage sidelink communications to relay broadcast messages to the out-of-coverage UEs.
