A voltage matched multijunction solar cell having first and second solar cell stacks that are electrically connected parallel to each other. The first solar cell stack is optimized for absorption of incoming solar light in a first wavelength range and the second solar cell stack is optimized for absorption of incoming solar light in a second wavelength range, wherein the first and the second wavelength range do not or at most only partially overlap each other.

The present invention relates to a solar cell assembly, comprising a solar cell attached to a bonding pad and a cooling substrate and wherein the bonding pad and the cooling substrate are joined to each other in a planar and flush manner such that the bonding pad and the cooling substrate are connected to each other in the form of a solid state connection. The present invention relates to a solar cell assembly that includes a solar cell attached to a bonding pad and a cooling substrate, wherein the bonding pad is attached to a surface of the cooling substrate by a thermally conductive adhesive and electrically contacted to the bonding pad and cooling substrate by a bonding wire. Alternatively, the bonding pad is attached to a surface of the cooling substrate by a thermally and electrically conductive adhesive.

The method including cutting the solar cell chips out of a wafer using a laser such that the solar cell chips include a non-rectangular geometry. The non-rectangular geometry facilitate continuous cutting by the laser and maximizing a number of solar cell chips cut from the wafer.

The present invention relates to an arrangement having at least one solar cell, which is formed by a first sequence of differently doped layers () on a substrate (), and at least one bypass diode, which is connected to the solar cell, particularly in a monolithic, series-connected solar module. The arrangement is characterized in that the bypass diode is formed by a second sequence of layers (), which is arranged between the substrate () and the first layer sequence (). With the proposed arrangement monolithic, series-connected solar modules can be formed at a very low loss of active receiving surface, the solar cells of which are protected by bypass diodes.
