Systems and methods presented herein facilitate operation of well-related tools. In certain embodiments, a variety of data (e.g., downhole data and/or surface data) may be collected to enable optimization of operations related to the well-related tools. In certain embodiments, the collected data may be provided as advisory data (e.g., presented to human operators of the well to inform control actions performed by the human operators) and/or used to facilitate automation of downhole processes and/or surface processes (e.g., which may be automatically performed by a computer implemented surface processing system (e.g., a well control system), without intervention from human operators). In certain embodiments, the systems and methods described herein may enhance downhole operations (e.g., milling operations) by improving the efficiency and utilization of data to enable performance optimization and improved resource controls of the downhole operations.

System and methodology for determining appropriate rate of penetration in downhole applications

A technique facilitates precision fluid conveyance and placement to one or more desired locations in a borehole, e.g. a wellbore. According to an embodiment, a material container, e.g. a fluid container, and/or a fluid flow path system may be deployed downhole via coiled tubing. A release system is selectively actuatable to release a specific amount or amounts of material, e.g. treatment fluid, at the one or more desired locations along the borehole. Depending on the application, various discharge mechanisms and/or supply mechanisms may be used in cooperation with the material container and/or fluid flow path system to provide the precision fluid conveyance and placement.

A method for placing ball sealers within a well formed within a subterranean formation for sealing holes in a casing of the well is carried out by performing at least one of two operations. The first operation involves providing a tag with at least one ball sealer or a carrier fluid containing the at least one ball sealer to facilitate monitoring of the location of the ball sealer. A tag monitoring device is provided within the well for monitoring the location of the tag. The ball sealer and carrier fluid with the tag are introduced downhole into the well. Information from the monitor device regarding the location of the tag is communicated to a remote monitoring location to the thereby provide an indication of the location of the tag within the well to a surface location. In the second operation a container is provided within the well at a known location downhole within the well. The container contains at least one ball sealer. The ball sealer or sealers are released from the container within the well at the known location in response to an instruction initiated from a surface location.

An embodiment of a method of performing a wellbore operation in an oilfield comprises providing a bottom hole assembly on a conveyance, deploying the bottom hole assembly into the wellbore with the conveyance, determining the depth location of the bottomhole assembly in the wellbore utilizing a mechanical device, moving the bottom hole assembly to a desired location based on the determined depth, circulating a fluid from the oilfield to the bottomhole assembly, and performing at least one wellbore operation while the bottomhole assembly is deployed at the desired location.
