The invention relates to a method of determining one or more conditions, of a geographical line, GL, or its surroundings. The method comprises: acquiring geo-referenced earth observation data representing one or more spatially overlapping imagery layers covering from an aerial or space perspective a specific region of interest, ROI, of the Earth's surface, the ROI comprising the GL; geometrically transforming the geo-referenced observation data, at least in parts, into a local internal frame of reference of the GL within the ROI to obtain a mapping of the geo-referenced observation data to respective corresponding coordinates within the local internal frame of reference of the GL; and evaluating the mapped earth observation data as represented in the local internal frame of reference of the GL according to a classification scheme to obtain therefrom evaluation data representing a classification of one or more properties of the GL or of its surroundings according to one or more conditions of the GL.

Method and system for determining a condition of a geographical line

A system and method are disclosed relating to a computer system that estimates the status of the driver of a vehicle. The system comprises the following steps: Acquisition of an image from a depth sensor containing depth and optional an IR intensity image and an RGB color image; identification of pixels that belong to the drivers head; creation of a 3D model of the head including an intensity model and a variability estimate for depth, grayscale and color information; estimation of the principal head pose and the neutral facial expression; estimation of the current relative head pose with respect to the principal head pose; identification of pixels that do not match the neutral face model with respect to depth, grayscale or color information or any combination thereof; clustering of the pixels with identified deviations; classification of spatial and temporal patterns to identify driver status and distraction events.

Method and system for monitoring the status of the driver of a vehicle

Described herein are a system and method for identifying extremities of an object within a scene. The method comprises operating an image processing system to receive image data from a sensor. The image data represents an image of the scene with the object. The image data comprises a two-dimensional array of pixels and each pixel contains a depth value indicating distance from the sensor. The image processing system slices the image into slices. Each respective slice comprises those pixels with depth values that lie within a respective range of distances defined relative to a reference. For each of the slices, the method identifies one or more connected regions of pixels that are neighbors in the two-dimensional array of pixels. The method builds, based on the connected region of pixels that have been identified for the slices and depth information inherent to the respective slices, a graph consisting of interconnected nodes. The connected regions form the nodes of the graph and the nodes are interconnected in the graph based on their relative distance to the reference. Extremities of the object are determined based on the graph.

Fast and robust identification of extremities of an object within a scene

The invention relates to a real time-capable analysis of a sequence of electronic images for estimating the pose of a movable object captured by means of the images. The invention further relates to implementing the invention in software and, in this connection, to a computer-readable medium that stores commands, the execution of which causes the method according to the invention to be carried out. The invention proceeds from a skeleton model, which is described by a small number of nodes in 3D space and permits a good data compression of the image information when the co-ordinates of the nodes describe at any time the position of predetermined parts of the moving object. The skeleton model simultaneously represents previous knowledge of the object, by defining e.g. node pairs and optionally also node triplets in the skeleton model that describe cohesive object parts or optionally object surfaces, which are contained in the measured 2&#xbd;-D image information, i.e. are visible to the camera. The skeleton model is to be fitted quickly and accurately into the image information. The fitting is effected between two images of an image sequence by the continuous displacement of the nodes and the continuous updating of the skeleton model.
