A cartridge for use in a pulse energy enhanced turbine of a turbocharger. At least first and second fixed separating blades () are provided between a nozzle ring () and a disk (), the separating blades () maintaining separation of exhaust gas flows through a guide grid between a divided volute and a turbine wheel (). Exhaust pulsation energy from different cylinders or cylinder groups of an engine or engine bank are kept separated up to the turbine wheel, so that the turbine wheel reacts to individual pulses of exhaust gas flow from engine exhaust ports.

A turbocharger includes a compressor assembly having a compressor housing defining a ported shroud and a switchable trim compressor. The switchable trim compressor is moveable from an open trim position to a closed trim position, with the closed trim position minimizing a diameter of the air inlet opening and blocking air flow through the ported shroud. The positioning of the switchable trim compressor in the open position increases the diameter of the air inlet opening and allows a recirculation air flow through the ported shroud from an interior of the compressor assembly to a position upstream of the switchable trim compressor at a position near the air inlet opening.

The present invention relates to an adjustment mechanism () for variably adjusting the cross-section of a compressor inlet () and further relates to a corresponding compressor () including such an adjustment mechanism (). The adjustment mechanism () comprises a plurality of rotatable orifice elements () and an actuation ring (). The actuation ring () is mechanically coupled to the plurality of orifice elementssuch that rotation of the actuation ringcauses movement of the orifice elements. The movement of the orifice elements () thereby adjusts the cross-section of a compressor inlet (). The adjustment mechanism () further comprises a plurality of support members () which are arranged axially between the plurality of orifice elements () and the actuation ring (). Additionally, the adjustment mechanism () comprises a spring (), more specific a ring-shaped wave spring. The spring () is adapted to axially preload the plurality of orifice elements () and the actuation ring () when being in a mounted state.

Compressor inlet arrangement

A compressor for a charging device, and a charging device having a corresponding compressor. The compressor comprises a compressor housing having a compressor inlet and a compressor outlet, and a compressor wheel and an adjustment mechanism. The compressor wheel is arranged in the compressor housing and can be rotated along a compressor axis. The adjustment mechanism is arranged in front of the compressor wheel axially in the current direction and can be adjusted between a first position and a second position in order to change an inlet cross-section of the compressor inlet. As a result of the adjustability of the adjustment mechanism, the inlet cross-section can be changed between a maximum inlet cross-section and a reduced inlet cross-section. Here, the adjustment mechanism forms the reduced inlet cross-section in such a way that the reduced inlet cross-section is arranged eccentrically in relation to the compressor axis.

The invention relates to a turbine comprising a turbine housing defining a volute having a substantially annular outlet opening, a turbine wheel, and an adjusting ring, rotatable about the turbine axis, which is arranged in the turbine housing radially between the volute and the turbine wheel, wherein the adjusting ring comprises a flow channel between a radially outer first peripheral opening and a radially inner second peripheral opening, and wherein the outlet opening is fluidically coupled to the turbine wheel by the flow channel. The outlet opening and the first peripheral opening have a path, variable in the axial direction, so that during a rotation of the adjusting ring, the outlet opening and the first peripheral opening are adjusted relative to each other in such a way that an overflow cross section between the outlet opening and the first peripheral opening is variably changeable.

The present invention relates to an actuation device for a compressor inlet adjustment mechanism. The actuation device comprises a housing part and a lever assembly. The lever assembly comprises a bearing section, an input section and an output section. The output section is configured to be coupled to an adjustment ring of the adjustment mechanism on a first side of the housing part. The input section can be coupled to an actuator rod on a second side of the housing part. The lever assembly is rotatably mounted in the housing part via the bearing section on the compressor inlet side here.
