An arthroscope comprises a sleeve having an internally hollow, proximal portion and an internally hollow middle portion connected to the proximal portion so as to create a through axial cavity. The sleeve has, within the middle portion, an abutment area. The arthroscope also comprises an optical unit having an elongated portion and a coupling portion configured to be at least partially received inside the through axial cavity of the sleeve. The coupling portion has a matching area suitable to couple with the abutment area. The matching area and the abutment area are shaped so as to have at least one pilot element so as to determine a univocal predefined coupling position between the sleeve and the optical unit; the matching area and the abutment area are also shaped so as to guide and automatically place the optical unit in such a predefined position.

The invention relates to a surgical instrument system, which comprises a hollow shaft as well as a shaft-type instrument that can be inserted into the hollow shaft. To create a surgical instrument system that consists of a hollow shaft and of a medical instrument that can be inserted into the hollow shaft and that is both simple in construction and capable of a range of uses, it is proposed according to the invention that at least one cam that reduces the inside diameter of the hollow shaft should be positioned on the interior of the hollow shaft.

A medical cutting instrument for cutting muscles and tendons, having a shaft on whose distal end a tool is mounted consisting of two jaw members, such that one jaw member can be moved with respect to the other jaw member, and on whose proximal end a handle is mounted, such that the movable jaw member and the handle operatively interact by way of an actuation element, in such a way that the movable jaw member can be shifted by actuating the handle between a closed position and an opened position. The other jaw member is U-shaped such that the two parallel legs of the U are disposed diagonally to the instrument longitudinal axis and the opening of the U points toward one side of the other jaw member, so that the other jaw member can be pushed from the side onto the muscle/tendon tissue that is to be severed.

A tool according to the invention for generating an undercut in a bone including a core with a shaft and a stamp mounted on a distal end of the shaft, wherein the stamp, in a transition area to the shaft, has a run-on bevel ascending in the distal direction, and a cutting sleeve which is arranged to be longitudinally movable on the shaft and of which the distal end is formed by at least one segment that can be spread open when pushed onto the run-on bevel, wherein the at least one segment has at least one laterally arranged cutting edge. The invention also relates to a method for generating an undercut in a bone.
