A motion base for displacing an object above a support surface includes a base support structure; a displaceable carriage configured to be coupled to an object; and an actuation system, the actuation system including one or more actuators operatively coupling the displaceable carriage to the base support structure, the one or more actuators configured to displace the displaceable carriage relative to the base support structure. In one or more embodiments, a portion of the displaceable carriage is suspended below a portion of the one or more actuators of the actuation system.

Motion base for displacing an object above a support surface

A force measurement system is disclosed herein. The force measurement system includes a force measurement assembly including at least one load transducer and a data processing device. The at least one load transducer including a load transducer frame portion, the load transducer frame portion including a first transducer beam section and a second transducer beam section, the first transducer beam section being connected to a middle portion of the second transducer beam section, and one or more deformation sensing elements are disposed on the load transducer frame portion. The data processing device is operatively coupled to the one or more deformation sensing elements of the at least one load transducer, the data processing device is configured to receive the first output signals from the one or more deformation sensing elements of the at least one load transducer, and to determine a first output force from the first output signal.

Force measurement system

A force measurement assembly is disclosed herein. The force measurement assembly includes a top component, the top component having a top surface for receiving at least one portion of the body of the subject; a single force transducer supporting the top component, the single force transducer configured to sense one or more measured quantities and output one or more signals that are representative of forces and/or moments being applied to the top surface of the top component by the subject; and a base component disposed underneath the single force transducer, the base component configured to be disposed on a support surface.

Force measurement assembly

A force measurement system and a motion base used therein is disclosed herein. The force measurement system includes a force measurement assembly configured to receive a subject, a motion base for displacing the force measurement assembly, and one or more data processing devices operatively coupled to the force measurement assembly and an actuation system of the motion base. The motion base includes a support structure; a displaceable carriage coupled to the force measurement assembly; and an actuation system, the actuation system including one or more actuators operatively coupling the displaceable carriage to the support structure, the one or more actuators configured to displace the displaceable carriage with the force measurement assembly relative to the support structure, the displaceable carriage being suspended below a portion of the support structure.

Force measurement system and a motion base used therein

A force measurement system is disclosed herein. The force measurement system includes a plurality of force measurement assemblies, at least some of the plurality of force measurement assemblies configured to be independently displaceable from other ones of the plurality of force measurement assemblies such that one or more particular ones of the plurality of force measurement assemblies that are disposed underneath a subject varies over time. Each of the plurality of force measurement assemblies includes a top surface for receiving at least one portion of the body of the subject; and at least one force transducer, the at least one force transducer configured to sense one or more measured quantities and output one or more signals that are representative of forces and/or moments being applied to the top surface of the force measurement assembly by the subject.

A swivel foot assembly for a force plate or balance plate is disclosed herein. The swivel foot assembly includes a foot attachment component including a stem portion and a body portion, the stem portion of the foot attachment component configured to be attached to a force plate or balance plate; and a foot base component including a receptacle for receiving the body portion of the foot attachment component, the foot base component configured to be disposed on a support surface. The swivel foot assembly is configured to accommodate an uneven support surface on which a force plate or balance plate is disposed so that a force measurement accuracy of the force plate or balance plate is not adversely affected by stresses resulting from the uneven support surface.

A force measurement system is disclosed herein. The force measurement system includes a force measurement assembly with at least one load transducer beam having a load transducer frame portion, and a plurality of deformation sensing elements disposed on the load transducer frame portion, a first one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a first force component of the load and outputting a first output signal representative of the first force component of the load, and a second one of the plurality of deformation sensing elements being sensitive to a second force component of the load and outputting a second output signal representative of the second force component of the load, the first force component of the load being different from the second force component of the load; and a data processing device operatively coupled to the plurality of deformation sensing elements of the load transducer beam.

A force measurement system is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the system includes a force measurement assembly configured to receive a subject; a data processing device operatively coupled to the force measurement assembly, the data processing device configured to determine a center of pressure for the subject using output forces and/or moments from the force measurement assembly; and a mobile device configured to determine one or more parameters indicative of the body sway for the subject. In this embodiment, a fall risk of the subject is assessed based upon a combination of the center of pressure and the one or more parameters indicative of the body sway determined for the subject.

A force measurement system is disclosed herein. The force measurement system includes a force measurement assembly and a data processing device operatively coupled to the force measurement assembly. In one or more embodiments, the data processing device is configured to reference a stored global calibration matrix for the force measurement assembly, to determine a location of an applied load on the surface of the force measurement assembly using the stored global calibration matrix, to assign the applied load to one or more of a plurality of different load regions based upon the location of the applied load, and to compute one or more output forces or moments of the applied load using stored local calibration information for the one or more of the plurality of different load regions. A force measurement system includes a plurality of force measurement assemblies arranged in a loop configuration, the plurality of force measurement assemblies configured to be displaced around a continuous path of movement such that a particular one of the plurality of force measurement assemblies that is disposed underneath a subject varies over time. Each of the plurality of force measurement assemblies includes a top surface for receiving at least one portion of the body of the subject; and at least one force transducer, the at least one force transducer configured to sense one or more measured quantities and output one or more signals that are representative of forces and/or moments being applied to the top surface of the force measurement assembly by the subject. The force measurement system may additionally comprise a data processing device operatively coupled to each of the force transducers of each of the force measurement assemblies.

A motion base for displacing a force measurement assembly is disclosed herein. The motion base includes a base assembly; a support structure configured to be coupled to the force measurement assembly; a rotatable coupling device, the rotatable coupling device rotatably coupling the support structure to the base assembly; and an actuation system, the actuation system including one or more actuators operatively coupled to the support structure, the one or more actuators configured to displace the support structure relative to the base assembly. In one or more embodiments, greater than 50% of the weight of the support structure is supported by the rotatable coupling device. Also, in one or more embodiments, the motion base may be used for displacing objects other than a force measurement assembly, such as for displacing a flight simulator or a virtual reality simulator.
