A high strength corrosion resistant tubing comprises about 35 to about 55% Ni, about 12 to about 25% Cr, about 0.5 to about 5% Mo, up to about 3% Cu, about 2.1 to about 4.5% Nb, about 0.5 to about 3% Ti, about 0.05 to about 1.0% Al, about 0.005 to about 0.04% C, balance Fe plus incidental impurities and deoxidizers. The composition also satisfies the equation: (Nb&#x2212;7.75 C)/(Al+Ti)=about 0.5 to about 9. A process for manufacturing the tubing includes: extruding the alloy to form a tubing; cold working the extruded tubing; annealing the cold worked tubing; and applying at least one age hardening step to the annealed tubing. Another process includes extruding the alloy at a temperature of about 2050&#xb0; F. or less; annealing the extruded tubing; and applying at least one age hardening step to the annealed tubing.

High-strength corrosion-resistant tubing for oil and gas completion and drilling applications, and process for manufacturing thereof

A high strength, corrosion resistant alloy suitable for use in oil and gas environments includes, in weight percent: 0-15% Fe, 18-24% Cr, 3-9% Mo, 0.05-3.0% Cu, 4.0-6.5% Nb, 0.5-2.2% Ti, 0.05-1.0% Al, 0.005-0.040% C, balance Ni plus incidental impurities and deoxidizers. A ratio of Nb/(Ti+Al) is equal to 2.5-7.5.

Ultra high strength alloy for severe oil and gas environments and method of preparation

A welding filler metal or a welding filler metal product having, in weight percent: 17.0-23.0% chromium, 5.0-12.0% molybdenum, 3.0-11.0% tungsten, 3.0-5.0% niobium, 0-2.0% tantalum, 1.2-3.0% titanium, 0.005-1.50% aluminum, 0.0005-0.100% carbon, &#x3c;2.0% iron, &#x3c;5.0% cobalt, and balance nickel wherein the nickel is 56.0-65.0%. A weld deposit formed from the welding filler metal has a minimum yield strength in the as-welded condition of at least 72 ksi (496 MPa). Also, a weld deposit and a method of forming a weld deposit comprising, in weight percent: 17.0-23.0% chromium, 5.0-12.0% molybdenum, 3.0-11.0% tungsten, 3.0-5.0% niobium, 0-2.0% tantalum, 1.2-3.0% titanium, 0.005-1.50% aluminum, 0.0005-0.100% carbon, &#x3c;8.0% iron, &#x3c;5.0% cobalt, and balance nickel wherein the nickel is 56.0-65.0%. The weld deposit has a minimum yield strength in the as-welded condition of at least 72 ksi (496 MPa).

High strength Ni&#x2014;Cr&#x2014;Mo&#x2014;W&#x2014;Nb&#x2014;Ti welding product and method of welding and weld deposit using the same

A high strength, corrosion resistant alloy suitable for use in oil and gas environments includes, in weight %: 0-12% Fe, 18-24% Cr, 3-6.2% Mo, 0.05-3.0% Cu, 4.0-6.5% Nb, 1.1-2.2% Ti, 0.05-0.4% 0.05-0.2% Al, 0.005-0.040% C, balance Ni plus incidental impurities and deoxidizers. A ratio of Nb/(Ti+Al) is equal to 2.5-7.5 to provide a desired volume fraction of &#x3b3;' and &#x3b3;&#x2033; phases. The alloy has a minimum yield strength of 145 ksi.

A Ni&#x2014;Fe&#x2014;Cr alloy having high strength, ductility and corrosion resistance especially for use in deep-drilled, corrosive oil and gas well environments, as well as for marine environments. The alloy comprises in weight %: 35-55% Ni, 12-25% Cr, 0.5-5% Mo, up to 3% Cu, 2.1-4.5% Nb, 0.5-3% Ti, up to 0.7% Al, 0.005-0.04% C, balance Fe plus incidental impurities and deoxidizers. The alloy must also satisfy the ratio of (Nb&#x2212;7.75 C)/(Al+Ti)=0.5-9 in order to obtain the desired high strength by the formation of &#x3b3;' and &#x3b3;&#x2033; phases. The alloy has a minimum of 1% by weight &#x3b3;&#x2033; phase dispersed in its matrix for strength purposes and a total weight percent of &#x3b3;&#x2032;+&#x3b3;&#x2033; phases being between 10 and 30.

Process for manufacturing high strength corrosion resistant alloy for oil patch applications

An article, such as a turbine engine component, formed from a nickel-base superalloy, the nickel-base superalloy containing a &#x3b3;&#x2033; tetragonal phase and comprising aluminum, titanium, tantalum, niobium, chromium, molybdenum, and the balance nickel, wherein the article has a time dependent crack propagation resistance of at least about 20 hours to failure at about 1100&#xb0; F. in the presence of steam. The invention also includes a nickel-base superalloy for forming such and article and methods of forming the article and making the nickel-base superalloy.

High strength corrosion resistant alloy for oil patch applications

An austenitic alloy having improved ductility/processability and improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance comprising, in % by weight, about: 25-30% Ni; 19-23% Cr; 6-8% Mo; 0.3-0.5% N; 0.5% Mn; 0-1.5% Cu; 0-0.2% C; 0-1% Al; 0-0.01% S; 0-1% Ti; 0-1% Si; up to trace amounts of Mg, Ca, and Ce; and balance Fe plus incidental impurities.

Corrosion resistant austenitic alloy

An article, such as a turbine engine component, formed from a nickel-base superalloy, the nickel-base superalloy containing a &ggr;&Prime; tetragonal phase and comprising aluminum, titanium, tantalum, niobium, chromium, molybdenum, and the balance nickel, wherein the article has a time dependent crack propagation resistance of at least about 20 hours to failure at about 1100&deg; F. in the presence of steam. A heat treatment for hot or cold worked 725 corrosion resistant Ni-base alloys to increase the room temperature yield strength of the material to above about 140 ksi (965 MPa). The material is useful for oil patch and gas turbine applications. The process includes annealing the material at about 1825&deg; F. (996&deg; C.) for about 1.5-4 hours, age hardening the material at about 1400&deg; F. (760&deg; C.) for about 3.0 to 10.5 hours to precipitate double gamma prime, furnace cooling the material about 50&deg; F. (28&deg; C.) to 100&deg; F. (56&deg; C.) per hour and heat treating the material at about 1200&deg; F. (649&deg; C.) for about 4.0 to about 12.5 hours.

Heat treatment for nickel-base alloys

A mechanically alloyed composition of matter containing 30-40% chromium, 0-15% cobalt, 0-10% iron, 0.2-1.0% aluminum, 0.3-1.2% titanium, greater than 1-5% tantalum and/or niobium, 0.2-1% yttria, usual processing and trace impurities, and the balance nickel. The addition of tantalum improves the workability characteristics of the alloy. The alloy is particularly useful for molten glass spinners.
