A process for the upgrading of hydrocarbon streams, i.e., processing any hydrocarbon feed streams rich in benzene and sulphur compounds. The process for simultaneous hydrodesulfurization and benzene conversion to higher alkylated aromatic molecules (Cto Caromatics), without need of prior treatment like distillation, or sulfur removal. The hydrocarbon feed streams are processed over sulfided metal catalyst impregnated on acid support simultaneously desulfurizes and alkylates the benzene molecules.

Process and catalyst system for conversion of C6 aromatics to higher aromatics

A process and a system are used for production of multiple grades of ultralow aromatic solvents/chemicals having preferred boiling range, flash point and viscosity from different hydrocarbon streams. A plurality of hydrotreating steps are used to hydrotreat a plurality of hydrocarbon feedstocks in the presence of a hydrogen gas stream and a catalyst system. Further, at least one dissolved gas stripping step, at least one adsorption step, and a distillation step are included in the process. Desired iso-paraffin molecules are thereby preserved, and the undesired aromatic molecules are converted into desired naphthene molecules.

Process and a system for production of multiple grade de-aromatized solvents from hydrocarbon streams

A process for the production of ultralow aromatic specialty distillate from different refinery streams particularly high sulfur streams. The process produces de-aromatized distillates with benzene content below 1 ppmw. Hydrocarbon feedstock having boiling temperature in the range of 90 and 350° C., preferably 140 and 320° C. The hydrocarbon feedstocks are obtained from any petroleum-refinery or bio-refinery or any other source producing hydrocarbon streams.

Product of low benzene content de-aromatized distillates for specialty applications

The present invention provides a multistage single reactor system for hydroprocessing and a process of carrying out multistage hydroprocessing in the said reactor assembly consisting of, a fixed bed solid catalyst system, a feed injection system enabling axial flow of hydrogen saturated hydrocarbon feed, a hydrogen dispensing system inside the reactor enabling minimum required hydrogen flow in cross-flow pattern, also using multitudes of integrated separation and withdrawal limbs for continuous staging. The innovative reactor disclosed in the present invention enables continuous separation and withdrawal of gaseous products along the reactor length by means of combined horizontal reactor orientation and vertical separation limbs provided at the top of the horizontally oriented reactor. The advantage of the reactor assembly includes effective heat sink of exothermic reactions and lower severity of operation due to removal of inhibitory gaseous products.

Process for multistage hydroprocessing in a single reactor

The present invention discloses an integrated process scheme for producing (i) high-octane gasoline blending stream (ii) high aromatic heavy naphtha stream which is a suitable feedstock for benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX) production and (iii) high cetane ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) stream suitable for blending in refinery diesel pool.

Simultaneous processing of catalytic and thermally cracked middle distillate for petrochemical feedstock

The present invention provides a novel route for synthesis and production of linear alpha olefins (LAO) and central olefins from the feedstock comprising fatty acids, triglycerides and esters of fatty acids, and mixture thereof through controlled hydrogenolysis, hydrogenation and dehydration reactions simultaneously in a hydro processing reactor containing a catalyst system having dual site&#x2014;a metallic site for hydrogenation/reduction reaction under hydrogen environment, and an acidic site for conversion of alcohol to olefin via E1 or E2 reaction mechanism.

Production of linear alpha olefins

The invention relates to Quench box assembly comprising quench pipe and quench box, to mix quench gas and vapor-liquid effluent from previous catalyst bed to achieve equilibrium temperature before entering the next bed. The quench pipe is in the form of ring having aperture while quench box consists of swirling section and a mixing chamber. The swirling section consists of inclined baffles to provide swirling action to incoming stream and the turbulence created by the swirling action increases the heat transfer rate thus requiring the smaller reactor volume to attain equilibrium temperature. The perforated plate being open from all the sides allowing the liquid to flow uniformly from all directions thus providing uniform distribution on the distributor tray. Hence, eliminates the requirement of rough liquid distributor before the distribution tray.

Quench-box assembly for hydroprocessing reactors

An inlet diffuser for the fixed-bed reactor is disclosed. The inlet diffuser comprises a truncated cone adapted to receive a stream of gas-liquid mixture. The truncated cone includes at least one opening formed on a circumference of the truncated cone. Further, the inlet diffuser comprises a vertical baffle plate in each of the openings and at least one horizontal baffle coupled to the truncated cone to absorb momentum of the stream received by the truncated cone. Furthermore, it comprises a cylindrical chamber in fluid communication with the truncated cone and adapted to receive the stream from the truncated cone. The cylindrical chamber includes at least one slot to discharge the stream from the inlet diffuser and a splash plate is disposed at a bottom portion of the cylindrical chamber with apertures to discharge the stream from the inlet diffuser.

Inlet diffuser for fixed-bed reactors

A process for upgrading light cycle oil (LCO) to a high octane gasoline and a high aromatic feedstock for aromatic complex, by utilizing fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is disclosed. FCC cracks unconverted diesel range stream from a hydrocracker to a high octane gasoline. The present invention relates to a hydrocracking reactor system and a process utilizing the same for upgrading heavy hydrocarbonaceous material to value-added products. Accordingly, an aspect of the present invention includes dispersing a liquid feedstock pre-mixed with a catalyst from top of a reactor vessel to obtain dispersed droplets having a predetermined droplet size less than 500 &#x3bc;m, introducing a gaseous feed comprising primarily of hydrogen from bottom of the reactor vessel to form a continuous gaseous phase throughout a cross-section of the reactor vessel, and allowing the dispersed droplets to contact the continuous gaseous phase throughout the cross-section of the reactor vessel to form reaction effluent comprising one or more lighter product hydrocarbons. The method may further include removing at least a top portion and at least a bottom portion of the reaction effluent from the reactor vessel.

Reactor system and process for upgrading heavy hydrocarbonaceous material

The present invention provides a process for deep desulphurization of cracked gasoline with minimum octane loss of about 1-2 units. In this process full range cracked gasoline from FCC, Coker, Visbreaker etc is sent to Diolefin Saturation Reactor for selective saturation of diolefins. After saturation of diolefins, the stream is sent to Splitter for splitting into three cuts i.e Light Cut (IBP-70&#xb0; C.), Intermediate Cut (70-90&#xb0; C.) and Heavy Cut (90-210&#xb0; C.). The Light Cut which contains majority of the high octane olefins and mercaptan sulfur is desulfurized with caustic treatment using Continuous Film Contactor (CFC). The sulfur in the Intermediate Cut is also predominantly mercaptans and the cut can be desulfurized by caustic treatment using CFC along with Light cut or separately desulfurized before being sent for isomerization. The Heavy Cut containing mainly thiophinic sulfur compounds is treated either by using conventional HDS process or reactive adsorption process.

Process for deep desulfurization of cracked gasoline with minimum octane loss

The invention describes process for demetallation of vegetable oils and animal fats to reduce metal content below 1 ppm to make them suitable for hydroprocessing feedstocks. The process comprises acid treatment with very low concentration of acids, utilizing synergistic effect of phosphoric acid and citric acid, followed by counter-current treatment with clay without intermediate step of water washing and treatment with ion exchange resin.
