Certain examples of the present invention relate to carrier management in a wireless communication network. Certain examples provide a User Equipment, UE, comprising: means for receiving, following a maximum permissible exposure, MPE, event occurring during operation over a first carrier such that the UE is no longer operating over the first carrier, a first signal, over a second carrier, for configuring the UE to determine a status of the MPE event associated with the previously used first carrier; means for determining, responsive to receipt of the first signal, a current status of the MPE event associated with the previously used first carrier; and means for transmitting, responsive to receipt of the first signal, a second signal over the second carrier, wherein the second signal comprises an indication of the current status of the MPE event associated with the previously used first carrier.

Carrier management in a wireless communication network

When a user equipment detects a condition that a distance between the user equipment, which has an established connection with a network entity of a communications network system, and a subject enters a pre-warning region, the user equipment enters a monitoring mode based on at least the detected condition. In the monitoring mode, options of operations to be performed by the user equipment to mitigate degradation of the established connection due to a required power backoff of an antenna of the user equipment are monitored.

Handling of radio link failures in telecommunication systems

Various example embodiments provide a system for mitigating effects of a power back-off due to exposure of user's body to transmitted power. A user equipment (UE) may determine triggering of a power exposure event, for example a body of a user coming close enough to trigger a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit. The UE may then send an emergency signal including an indication of the triggered power exposure event to a base station. Various beneficial options for rapidly providing the emergency signal are disclosed. The UE and the base station may enter an emergency mode, where the UE may provide further information on its power back-off conditions. Based on the information received from the UE, the base station may determine to perform adaptation of the radio link to avoid radio link failure. Apparatuses, methods, and computer programs are disclosed.

Signaling power exposure events

According to an example embodiment, a method may include detecting, by a user equipment in a wireless network, a power exposure event for the user equipment (e.g., a Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) event); and sending, by the user equipment to a base station, a message including at least a user equipment identifier identifying the user equipment, information indicating that the detected power exposure event for the user equipment is a trigger for the sending of the message, and information identifying at least one of: a reduced maximum output power value for the user equipment and/or a reduced maximum uplink duty cycle for the user equipment, based on the detected power exposure event.

Power exposure reporting for wireless networks

According to a first embodiment, a method may include initiating, by a user equipment, at least one transient-inducing event. The method may further include entering, by the user equipment, at least one first state associated with at least one first state requirement configuration. The method may further include transmitting, by the user equipment, at least one first signal to a network entity according to the at least one first state requirement configuration.

Signal quality verification method

Improved techniques of managing measurement gaps for MPUEs include identifying an idle time for the UE in a coordinated and network-controlled manner during which the UE is able to perform SSB/CSI-RS based measurements for a serving cell using non-serving panels. Such idle time is defined as an omitted operation time (i.e., an idle time of a certain pre-defined length) in which the network has to apply the scheduling restrictions in the SSBs' symbols to the UE. Note that currently as per the RAN4 requirements, the network must apply scheduling restrictions in all SSB symbols for all UEs in FR2 at any time (i.e., worst case scenario).

User equipment indication for adaptive scheduling restrictions

In a system, apparatus, method, and non-transitory computer readable medium for implementing dynamic uplink (UL) gaps for maximum permissible exposure (MPE) detection, a user equipment (UE) device include a wireless antenna array, a memory storing computer readable instructions and a UL gap configuration, and processing circuitry configured to execute the computer readable instructions to cause the device to, determine estimated distance information between a user and the device using the wireless antenna array during at least one first scheduled UL gap of the UL gap scheduling in accordance with the UE maximum transmission power limit, the UL gap scheduling based on a default UL gap periodicity value and a default UL gap duration value, transmit a MPE-related message to the node based on the estimated distance information and a desired MPE threshold, and adjust the UL gap configuration based on the transmitted MPE-related message.

Dynamic UL gaps for MPE detection

There is provided applying minimum radio frequency performance requirements to uplink transmission, when there are multiple possible multiple sets of minimum radio frequency performance requirements. A network node determines a condition for applying a first set of minimum radio frequency performance requirements or a second set for minimum radio frequency performance requirements by a device for uplink transmissions in a given radio technology. The network node transmits an indication to the device indicating whether the first set or the second set of requirements can be applied for subsequent uplink transmissions.

Applying minimum radio frequency performance requirements to uplink transmissions

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for RSRQ measurements. In one aspect there is provided a method. The method may include receiving, at a user equipment, measurement configuration information including at least one value for a first type of reference signal received quality measurement; detecting, at the user equipment, whether an offset is received from the network; adjusting the at least one value in accordance with the detected offset to enable a second type of reference signal received quality measurement at the user equipment; and activating the second type of reference signal received quality measurement configured with the adjusted at least one value. Handling different types of RSRQ measurements based on offsets

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for enhancing the setup of carrier aggregation (or dual connectivity or multi connectivity or stand-alone LTE/LTE-like on unlicensed band or LAA or LTE-WLAN aggregation) from IDLE mode (or semi-idle or semi-connected or suspended state) are provided. One method includes providing an indication, to at least one UE, of (or configuring the UE with) potential inter-frequency carriers that the UE should measure during IDLE mode (or during semi-idle or semi-connected or suspended state) for potential SCells. The method may further include during or after RRC connection establishment, receiving an indication from the at least one UE that it has inter-frequency carrier(s) and/or SCell measurement results available, and based on the received measurement results, configuring carrier aggregation (or dual connectivity or multi connectivity or LAA or LTE-WLAN aggregation) without further measurements and activating the SCell.

Methods and apparatuses for enhancing the setup of carrier aggregation, dual connectivity, multi connectivity, license assisted access, or LTE-WLAN in communications networks

There is provided a method including generating, by a network element, at least one transmission gap within data transmission performed by the network element, transmitting a control message to at least one terminal device, wherein the control message includes a first request to perform, by the at least one terminal device, a first interference measurement during the at least one transmission gap, and wherein the control message further includes a second request to perform, by the at least one terminal device, a second interference measurement during the said data transmission, receiving, from the at least one terminal device, an interference report including information that is at least partly based on the first and the second interference measurements, and providing communication resources on the basis of the received interference report.

Improving communication efficiency
