A method of selecting a corrosion-inhibiting substance includes selecting a corrosion-inhibiting substance to include a non-tungstate anodic corrosion inhibitor with respect to an amount of zinc in an aluminum alloy substrate that is to be coated with the corrosion-inhibiting substance.

Method for corrosion inhibiting additive

A conductive polymer corrosion protective composite is provided which may be used as a coating for imparting corrosion protection to structures such as turbine engine components. The composite comprises an organic-inorganic component and corrosion inhibitive pigments comprising an anodic corrosion inhibitor and a cathodic corrosion inhibitor. The anodic corrosion inhibitor may be selected from the group consisting of compounds of vanadium, molybdenum, tungsten, and mixtures thereof. The cathodic corrosion inhibitor may be selected from the group consisting of cerium, neodymium, praseodymium, and mixtures thereof.

A process for coating an article includes the steps of contacting an article with a first solution to produce a coated article, the first solution includes a solvent and at least one non-conductive material comprising at least one oxide of a metal; contacting with a second solution the coated article having at least one surface with a non-conductive material layer, the second solution includes a solvent and at least one conductive material comprising at least one of the foregoing: graphite, metals, conductive ceramics, semi-conductive ceramics, intermetallic compounds, and mixtures thereof; and drying the coated article having at least one surface with a non-conductive material layer having the at least one conductive material in contact with at least one surface of the non-conductive material layer and the at least one surface of the article.

Processes for applying a conversion coating with conductive additive(s) and the resultant coated articles

A method for regenerating at least one impurity-adsorbing sorbent bed includes passing impurity-containing fluid through the impurity-adsorbing bed. The impurity-adsorbing sorbent bed adsorbs an impurity in the impurity-containing fluid to produce a purified fluid. A portion of the purified fluid is sent back through the impurity-adsorbing sorbent bed that contains the adsorbed impurity. The impurity-adsorbing sorbent bed is exposed to microwave energy to desorb the impurity adsorbed on the impurity-adsorbing sorbent bed.

The main fuel supply has a first concentration of an impurity and the secondary fuel supply has a second concentration of the impurity that is less than the first concentration of the impurity. The sorbent bed adsorbs the impurity. The microwave energy source regenerates the sorbent bed for reuse.
