Based on the availability level of the network and/or the integrity level of the positioning service and/or system at the wireless device, the wireless device performs at least one action associated with the positioning service and/or system.

Methods and systems to define integrity for industrial internet of things

A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for determining an integrity level of an estimated position of the UE in a radio communications network. The UE obtains information from a network node operating in the radio communications network. The information is about service levels of positioning assistance information provided in the radio communications network. The service levels are related to any one or more out of Integrity (I), Availability (A), and Continuity (C). The UE further obtains positioning assistance information from the network node. The positioning assistance information relates to the established service levels. The UE then determines a positioning strategy based on the information about the service levels. The UE estimating the position of the UE according to the determined positioning strategy, and based on the obtained positioning assistance information, and determines an integrity level of the estimated position of the UE.

The method provides a dynamic configuration for PRS based on the feedback from the UE and a location node, beamforming configuration, or any requirements for physical layer efficiently.

Enhanced on-demand request procedures for obtaining various system information

A wireless device and a method therein for receiving positioning system information from a radio network node. The wireless device and the radio network node operate in a wireless communications network. The wireless device receives positioning system information broadcast scheduling information comprising information about positioning System Information Blocks that are comprised in a System Information message. Further, the wireless device receives an indication that a pSIB is segmented into pSIB segments. Based on the indication and on the pSI the wireless device determines whether or not the pSIB segments are scheduled via contiguous scheduling. When the pSIB segments are determined to be scheduled via contiguous scheduling, the wireless device monitors scheduled resources, retrieves the contiguously scheduled pSIB segments and decodes position system information of the retrieved pSIB segments.

Radio network node, a wireless device and methods therein for transmission and reception of positioning system information

A method, network node and wireless device for position reference signal (PRS) design by extending a base signal are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method in a wireless device (WD) includes obtaining extended reference signal, RS, configurations from the network node. The method also includes determining a waveform associated with the extended RS. The method also includes detecting a RS and estimate an associated time of arrival. The method further includes sending a measurement report to the network node based on the estimated time of arrival.

PRS design by extending the basic signal

There is provided a method for providing Observed Time Difference of Arrival (OTDOA) Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) measurements from a wireless device to a location server. The method includes sending, from the wireless node to the location server, a capability to support OTDOA location measurements using multipath RSTD, receiving, at the wireless node, a request for OTDOA location measurements using multipath RSTD, from the location server. The method includes receiving, at the wireless node, assistance data providing details of required OTDOA location measurements using multipath RSTD from the location server, receiving, at the wireless node, a signal from an RSTD reference cell and a neighbor cell. The method includes observing, at the wireless node, a time difference between the received signals thereby obtaining the required OTDOA location measurements using multipath RSTD and sending the required OTDOA location measurements using multipath RSTD from the wireless node to the location server.

Positioning support information for time of arrival (TOA) estimation in possible multipath propagation conditions

Exemplary embodiments include methods of estimating the position of a user equipment, UE, in association with a plurality of reference stations. Such embodiments can include performing one or more positioning measurements (e.g., carrier-phase measurements of GNSS satellite signals), and receiving transfer information between a first reference system and a second reference system. Such embodiments can also include determining an estimate of the UE's position based on the positioning measurements for the UE, the transfer information, and location coordinates of a plurality of entities (e.g., reference stations), wherein the location coordinates of at least one entity is associated with the first reference system and the location coordinates of at least one other entity is associated with the second reference system. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by network nodes, as well as UEs and network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Methods for handling GNSS reference system information of reference stations

The disclosure relates to an OTDOA positioning technique wherein different base stations transmit different variations of the same basic PRS or other positioning signal synchronously as an SFN signal to effect an observed time shift at the UE between the different variations of the basic PRS signal or positioning signal. This added time shift resulting from the transmission of different variations by different base stations effectively spreads the corresponding channel impulses in the CIR of the SFN signal in the time domain so that the UE is better able to detect and discriminate between different instances of the positioning signal transmitted from different base stations.

A method, apparatus, and system are provided for facilitating positioning based on signal correlation function characteristic feedback. In an embodiment, the method may involve steps performed by a network node in communication with a wireless communication device (WCD) and a plurality of base stations. The network node receives, from the WCD, location information including position reference signal (PRS) correlation function characteristics of a cross-correlation between a received downlink signal and a transmitted PRS for each base station from the plurality of base stations. The network node determines a position of the WCD using the PRS correlation function characteristics. The WCD may initiate the transmission of the PRS correlation function characteristics on its own, or in response to a request to do so from the network node.
