The present disclosure comprises a polymeric substrate that provides multiple releases of active agents. A substrate for multiple phase delivery of active agents is provided having a first polymer matrix layer having a first active agent disposed therein, a second polymer matrix layer having a second active agent disposed therein, and a coacervate layer disposed between the first polymer matrix layer and the second polymer matrix layer. Selected first and second active agents are included in the first and second polymer matrices such that as the first and second polymer matrices dissolve, the active agents are released. Multiple phase active agent release is achieved by constructing multiple layers of a polymer matrix containing an active agents formed with polymers having different solubility characteristics or with active agents at different concentration levels.

Substrates providing multiple releases of active agents

The present disclosure generally relates to methods for disinfecting surfaces. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to methods for destroying prion molecules using a combination of ultrasonic energy and enzyme treatment that is effective to denature and degrade prion proteins.

Use of sonication to eliminate prions

The present disclosure is directed to methods and compositions for clearing and cleaning enteral feeding tubes. More particularly, the composition is an ingestible gel composition that comprises enzymes for degrading buildup in enteral feeding tubes, carrageenan, and divalent metal ions or a source thereof. The carrageenan present in the composition stabilizes the enzymes at room temperatures, allowing for long-term storage of the composition. Upon injecting the gelled composition into the feeding tube, body heat from the patient melts the gel, and the enzymes are released to act on debris present in the feeding tube.
