In one embodiment, a shutter lock assembly for a circuit breaker cassette having a shutter coupled to a shutter rod is provided. The shutter lock assembly includes a lock plate assembly configured to couple to the circuit breaker cassette and an actuation mechanism having a first end coupled the lock plate assembly. The actuation mechanism is configured to actuate the lock plate assembly to lock the shutter of the circuit breaker cassette in a closed position.

A mechanism for a circuit breaker contact arm that allows current limiting by reducing the opening time is disclosed. A secondary trip assembly is arranged to actuate due to magnetic forces generated during an undesirable electrical condition such as a short circuit. The secondary trip system releases a contact arm assembly allowing the contact arm to rotate to an open position that interrupts the flow of electrical power.

A mechanism for a circuit breaker contact arm that allows current limiting by reducing the opening time is disclosed. A contact arm is coupled to a contact arm mechanism that includes a carrier coupled to a first pair of linkages. A second pair of linkages is coupled to the first pair of linkages. A second carrier coupled to the second pair of linkages attaches to the contact arm mechanism to a main circuit breaker mechanism through a lay shaft assembly. Upon the occurrence of an undesired electrical condition, the contact arm mechanism moves from a locked to an open position allowing the contact arm to blow open.

A cassette for a draw-out circuit breaker apparatus is disclosed. The cassette comprises a base having a front edge and a back edge, the back edge defining a back plane, a set of shutters disposed at the back plane and configured to open and close, and a set of shutter locks extending from the front edge to the back edge and in operable communication with the set of shutters. The shutter locks are biased toward a first position. In response to the shutter locks being driven toward a second position, the shutters are restrained from opening. The shutter locks are configured to be restrained in the second position.

The lever includes an engagement orifice. The engagement orifice is receptive to the rotatable latching shaft. The working surface is in mechanical communication with the actuation device. The snap fitting is securely mated with the rotatable latching shaft.
