A method and apparatus of managing remote third party OTN & WDM transceiver equipment using the same fibers used for end user data exchange is described. A network device collects management instructions for the OTN & WDM transceiver equipment, assembles this management information into the overhead of a data frame and transmits on an optical link directly coupled to the network device. The WDM transceiver function converts the optical signal to an electrical one and the OTN function extracts the management instructions from the OTN overhead. A processor associated with the OTN framer function acts on that information. The management instructions includes the instruction to periodically and continuously, load certain performance, alarm or informational data into its OTN overhead and transmit that to a similar transceiver at the remote end of the communications link. Network-based monitoring equipment can optically tap off a portion of the signal and extract this information, allowing the network-based device to gain knowledge of conditions at the end points.

In-band control mechanism

A method, apparatus and system of centralized management of applications and desktop preferences without requiring configuration of client-side operating systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of a rich client device includes accessing an application installed on a server, and executing the application from the rich client device without installing the application on the rich client device (e.g., that may mean that an operating system of the rich client device is not modified to perform the function calls between the application and the operating system) when requested by a user of the rich client device through a binary module (e.g., the binary module may include required resources between the application and the operating system including a file system data, a Dynamic-Link library (DLL) data, etc.) of the server that emulates a set of function calls between the application and an operating system of the rich client device.

Centralized management of applications and desktop preferences without requiring configuration of clientside operating systems

A method, an apparatus and/or a system of non-decaying electric power generation from pyroelectric materials is disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes generating a substantially continuous electric energy from an at least one layer of pyroelectric material when the at least one layer of pyroelectric material is subjected to a temporal temperature gradient, a varying electric field and/or a mechanical oscillation. The method also includes creating the temporal temperature gradient, the varying electric field and/or the mechanical oscillation through coupling the at least one layer of pyroelectric material in between a first layer of a first material and a second layer of a second material that harnesses a heat energy and/or an electric field energy to produce the temporal temperature gradient and/or the mechanical oscillation to which the at least one layer of pyroelectric material is subjected.

Non-decaying electric power generation from pyroelectric materials

A method to increase the efficiency of a solar cell comprises depositing a pyroelectric film on a surface of the solar cell and generating an electromotive force to bias the solar cell. The method also includes creation of an open circuit voltage. Further, the method includes increasing a short circuit current through the pyroelectric film and creating a sustained temperature variation in the solar cell. A constant temporal temperate gradient is created in the pyroelectric film to increase the short circuit current with a temperature. Further, a p-n junction is biased with the electromotive force produced from the pyroelectric film.

Pyroelectric solar technology apparatus and method

A solid state magnetic memory system and method disposes an array of magnetic media cells in an array on a substrate. In an exemplary embodiment, drive electronics are fabricated into the substrate through conventional CMOS processing in alignment with associated cells of the array. The magnetic media cells each include a magnetic media bit and a magnetoresistive or GMR stack for reading the state of the media bit. Addressing lines are juxtaposed with the media bits to permit programming and erasing of selected ones of the bits. In at least some embodiments, sector erase may be performed.

Magnetic memory device and method for magnetic reading and writing

A method and computer aided system for predicting the reliability of oxide-nitride-oxide (ONO) based non-volatile memory. ONO memory devices may be programmed. Margin voltages may be recorded initially, and during baking at 100 degrees C. and 300 degrees C. From this data, constants and activation energy may be determined through a first formula. Frenkel-Poole activation energy may be determined. Through the use of a second formula, decay time of the information stored in the ONO memory may be predicted from the activation energy. The first formula may also be used to predict the decay time. The two decay time predictions may be compared to establish confidence. In this manner, data retention of an ONO memory may be reliably predicted.
