Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a request to establish a multicast session. The request may identify a multicast service session including a multicast quality of service flow. The UE may receive, from a base station wirelessly communicating with the UE, an indication of communication resources for the UE to use to receive multicast packets of the multicast service session from a content provider via a tunnel between a first network node and the base station. The tunnel may be established for the multicast service session based on identifying that the multicast service session lacks an existing tunnel between the first network node and the base station. The UE may identify a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle for the multicast service session, and receive the multicast packets from the base station according to the indicated communication resources and the identified DRX cycle.

Multicast idle mode behavior and paging

In order to improve efficiency in releasing a connection with a user equipment, a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are presented herein. A RAN receives release assistance information from a user equipment or a User Plane Function (UPF) involved in an active session with the user equipment. The release assistance information may be received over a control plane or over a user plane. The release assistance information may be received from the user equipment or the UPF over the user plane or as Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling. The release assistance information may be received from an application function via the UPF. The RAN determines to release the user equipment based on the release assistance information.

Expedited release of a user equipment

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method of operating a user equipment for wireless communication with a network. In some aspects, the UE establishes a connection to a network and obtains a control plane message from the network. The control plane message may include one or more types of policy information if a size of the one or more types of policy information is less than or equal to a maximum payload size of the control plane message, or information indicating at least a network location from where the one or more types of policy information may be obtained by the UE over a user plane if the size of the one or more types of policy information is greater than the maximum payload size of the control plane message, or a combination thereof. Method and apparatus for supporting modulation-coding scheme set in very high throughput wireless systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications system may support multicast transmissions from a base station to multiple user equipments (UEs). Each UE may have uplink resources allocated for providing feedback to the base station regarding multicast transmissions. For example, a UE may not successfully decode one or more frames of a multicast transmission. When a UE does not successfully decode the one or more frames, the UE may transmit negative acknowledgment (NACK) feedback indicating the one or more frames that were not successfully received. A serving base station may store frames within a buffer for a transmission window and retransmit each of the frames indicated within the NACK feedback from the stored frames. In some cases, the serving base station may not retransmit frames that were not indicated within the NACK feedback (e.g., frames that may have been received successfully by the UE).

Reliability for multicast transmissions

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. An access point (AP) may identify a jitter pattern for a wakeup message. A station may listen using a wakeup radio for a wakeup message during wakeup listening periods according to the identified jitter pattern. A station may receive a preamble having a first bandwidth and a wakeup message having a second bandwidth. An AP may transmit an identifier key to a station, and the station may determine a rotating identifier associated with the AP based on the received identifier key. The station may receive a wakeup message from the AP, compare a sender identifier with the rotating identifier, and power on a second radio. A station may also receive a wakeup message that includes an indication of which station are to be activated.

Media access control for wakeup radios

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communications system may support techniques for efficient communication between a user equipment (UE) and different entities (or functions) of a core network. Specifically, the UE may interact with a single entity (or function) of a core network (e.g., an access and mobility management function (AMF)), and messages intended for other entities (or functions) may be routed appropriately by this entity. For example, an AMF may receive a message from a UE intended for another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the entity (or function). Similarly, the AMF may receive a message from another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the UE.

Non-access stratum transport for non-mobility management messages

A core network receives data from at least one of an AF, a DN, or a UE. A UPF having small data capability processes the data for transport with a low overhead and without initiating a bearer set up protocol. The data may be transported between the UE and the UPF as an RRC payload over a NAS protocol. The data may be received from an AF or DN external to the core network and may be processed to transport the data to the UE based as an RRC payload. The data may be received as uplink data from a UE, e.g., in an RRC payload. The UPF may process the RRC payload to obtain the data and may transport the data to the AF or DN. The UPF may perform IP header compression, data encryption, and/or buffering of data for a UE in an idle mode.

User plane based small data service

Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes receiving, at an apparatus, at least one of: an offset parameter indicating an offset, with respect to a default time period, during which the apparatus should be in an active mode for transmitting and/or receiving data, and an interval parameter indicating a multiple of time periods, wherein the apparatus should be in the active mode for transmitting and/or receiving data during each time period. The method further includes determining at least one wakeup time period to be in the active mode based on the offset parameter or the interval parameter. The method further includes transmitting and/or receiving data during the at least one wakeup time period.

Systems and methods for synchronization within a neighborhood aware network

The data includes first data corresponding to a first access category. The method further includes sending the control message from the particular device upon expiration of a delay period. The delay period is based on the first delay.
