Voltage samples are collected for a source and loads connected thereto by an electrical network. Respective negative sequence voltage difference values are generated for respective source/load pairs from the voltage sample. A connection (e.g., a loose connection) in the electrical network is identified based on the generated negative sequence voltage difference values. The identified connection is reported to a user. Identifying a connection in the electrical network may include identifying at least one source/load pair having an associated negative sequence voltage difference value that meets a predetermined criterion and identifying the connection based on the identified at least one source/load pair. Identifying the connection may include identifying at least one source/load pair having an associated negative sequence voltage difference value with a magnitude falling outside of at least one range associated with the at least one source/load pair.

Apparatus, methods and computer-readable media for detection of loose connections in an electrical assembly

A system and method for detecting a phase-to-ground fault in an AC electrical machine operates to receive measurements of three-phase voltages and currents provided to the AC electrical machine, compute at least one of a zero sequence component and a negative sequence component of voltage and current from the three-phase voltages and currents, and calculate a fault severity index (FSI) based on the zero or negative sequence component of voltage and current, so as to identify a phase-to-ground fault in the AC electrical machine. Calculating the FSI further includes determining a total value of the zero or negative sequence current, determining a noise-contributed value of the zero or negative sequence current included in the total value, determining a compensated value of the zero or negative sequence current based on the total value and the noise-contributed value, and calculating the FSI based on the compensated value.

System and method for detecting stator faults in AC electrical machines

An electricity distribution system includes a peer-to-peer decentralized ledger network and a plurality of distributed ledger nodes in communication within the peer-to-peer decentralized ledger network. At least one distributed ledger node of the plurality of distributed ledger nodes includes a processor that aids in executing peer-to-peer energy and financial transactions between energy suppliers and energy buyers. The processor is programmed to schedule at least one of supply of electricity from one of a plurality of available energy sources to an on-site load based on predetermined demand parameters set by an energy buyer and delivery of electricity generated by a distributed energy resource to an external load based on predetermined supply parameters set by an energy supplier.

A fuel tank system constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes a fuel tank and an evaporative emissions control system. The evaporative emissions control system is configured to recapture and recycle emitted fuel vapor. The evaporative emissions control system includes a liquid trap, a first device, a second device, a control module and a G-sensor. The first device is configured to selectively open and close a first vent. The second device is configured to selectively open and close a second vent. The control module regulates operation of the first and second devices to provide over-pressure and vacuum relief for the fuel tank. The G-sensor provides a signal to the control module based on a measured acceleration.

A diagnostic system configured to detect a stator winding fault in an electrical machine comprising a plurality of stator windings is provided. The diagnostic system includes a processor programmed to receive measurements of three-phase voltages and currents provided to the electrical machine, compute positive, negative, and zero sequence components of voltage and current from the three-phase voltages and currents, and identify a noise factor contribution and a stator fault contribution to the negative sequence voltage by performing a two-step initialization algorithm comprising a modified recursive least square (RLS) method, the noise factor contribution comprising unbalance in the electrical machine resulting from one or more of positive sequence current, negative sequence current, and positive sequence voltage. The processor is still further programmed to detect a stator fault in the electrical machine based on the stator fault contribution to the negative sequence voltage.

Piecewise estimation of negative sequence voltage for fault detection in electrical systems

Electrical current sensing and monitoring methods include connecting a compensation circuit across a conductor having a non-linear resistance such as a fuse element. The compensation circuit injects a current or voltage to the conductor that allows the resistance of the conductor to be determined. The current flowing in the conductor can be calculated based on a sensed voltage across the conductor once the resistance of the conductor has been determined.

Electric fuse current sensing systems and monitoring methods

A fuel tank system constructed in accordance to one example of the present disclosure includes a fuel tank, a first vent tube, an evaporative emissions control system and a cam driven tank venting control assembly. The first vent tube is disposed in the fuel tank. The evaporative emissions control system is configured to recapture and recycle emitted fuel vapor. The evaporative emissions control system has a controller. The cam driven tank venting control assembly has a rotary actuator that rotates a cam assembly based on operating conditions. The cam assembly has at least a first cam having a first cam profile configured to selectively open and close the first vent tube based on operating conditions.

The method includes providing a support vector machine load feature database of a plurality of different electric load types; sensing a voltage signal and a current signal for each of the different electric loads; determining a load feature vector including at least six steady-state features with a processor from the sensed voltage signal and the sensed current signal; and identifying one of the different electric load types by relating the load feature vector including the at least six steady-state features to the support vector machine load feature database.

A first electrical response of a capacitor bank is accessed, the capacitor bank including a plurality of capacitor units arranged in a fixed spatial relationship with each other, each capacitor unit having a nominal impedance; a test electrical signal is provided to the capacitor bank; a second electrical response of the capacitor bank is measured after providing the test electrical signal to the capacitor bank; the first electrical response of the capacitor bank and the second response of the capacitor bank are compared; and whether an impedance of one or more capacitor units in the capacitor bank has changed relative to the nominal impedance is determined based on the comparison.

A system and method for detecting and localizing excess voltage drop in single or multiple phases of three-phase AC circuits is disclosed. An electrical distribution circuit is provided that includes an input connectable to an AC source, an output connectable to terminals of an electrical machine, the output configured to provide three-phase voltages and currents to the electrical machine, and a diagnostic system configured to detect an excess voltage drop (EVD) in the electrical distribution circuit. The diagnostic system includes a processor that is programmed to receive measurements of the three-phase voltages and currents provided to the electrical machine, compute a negative sequence voltage from the three-phase voltages and currents, determine a localization reference phase angle for each phase based in part on the three-phase voltages and currents, and calculate an EVD in the electrical distribution circuit based on the negative sequence voltage and the localization reference phase angles.

A system and method for detecting cavitation in pumps for fixed and variable supply frequency applications is disclosed. The system includes a controller having a processor programmed to repeatedly receive real-time operating current data from a motor driving a pump, generate a current frequency spectrum from the current data, and analyze current data within a pair of signature frequency bands of the current frequency spectrum. The processor is further programmed to repeatedly determine fault signatures as a function of the current data within the pair of signature frequency bands, repeatedly determine fault indices based on the fault signatures and a dynamic reference signature, compare the fault indices to a reference index, and identify a cavitation condition in a pump based on a comparison between the reference index and a current fault index.
