A bearing assembly includes a bearing, an outer race located radially outward of the bearing and supporting the bearing, a bearing housing located radially outward of the outer race and supporting the bearing and the outer race, and a bearing lubricant drain including a multi-directional passage formed in one or both of the outer race or the bearing housing, the lubricant drain arranged to cause a lubricant to flow from a first location to a second location. The second location is radially outward and axially offset from the first location. A gas turbine engine includes a shaft configured to rotate about a centerline axis of the gas turbine engine and the bearing assembly configured to facilitate the rotation of the shaft.

Lubricant draining bearing assemblies are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a first race, a second race, roller bearings positioned between the first race and the second race, and a cage positioned around the roller bearings between the first race and the second race, the cage including a first radial surface, a second radial surface, and an axial surface, the first radial surface facing the first race, the second radial surface facing the second race, the axial surface facing away from the roller bearings, the cage including at least one conduit extending between the first radial surface and at least one of the second radial surface or the axial surface, the conduit defining a flow path for a fluid out of a cavity between the first race, the roller bearings, and the cage.

Separators for use with gas turbine engines are disclosed herein. An example separator disclosed herein includes a first ring including a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a first opening extending from the first surface to the second surface, a second ring surrounding the first ring, the second ring including a third surface, a fourth surface, and a second opening extending from the first surface to the second surface, and a filter disposed between the first ring and the second ring, the filter disposed in a fluid pathway extending between the first opening and the second opening.

Separators for use with gas turbine engines

A seal assembly for a rotary machine. The seal assembly includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor is rotatable about a rotational axis and has a rotor seal face. The stator has a stator seal face. The stator seal face is positioned opposite the rotor seal face and faces the rotor seal face with a gap therebetween. A portion of one of the rotor and the stator is formed of (i) a shape memory alloy or (ii) a first metal and a second metal with the second metal having a coefficient of thermal expansion different from the first metal. The seal assembly is characterized by a seal clearance compliance ratio (SCCR) from 20% to 90%.

The present disclosure provides fluid eductors, systems that utilize fluid eductors, and methods of entraining a suction fluid flow using a fluid eductor. Exemplary fluid eductors include a concentric eductor space or a plurality of annular eductor spaces. Exemplary methods include ejecting a volume of motive fluid out of a concentric eductor space of a fluid eductor, accelerating a peripheral region of the suction fluid flow with the motive fluid ejecting out of the first annular eductor space, and accelerating a core region of the suction fluid flow with the motive fluid ejecting out of the second annular eductor space.

Dynamically-lubricated bearings and methods of dynamically lubricating bearings, including bearings used in gas turbine engines. Such a bearing includes an inner race having an inner race groove between a pair of inner race cage lands, an outer race having an outer race groove between a pair of outer race cage lands and opposes the inner race groove, rolling elements disposed between the inner and outer races and in rolling contact with the inner and outer race grooves, and a cage disposed between the inner and outer races to maintain separation between the rolling elements. A lubricant is introduced into a cavity between the inner and outer races, and rotation of the inner race relative to the outer race causes the lubricant to exit the cavity through recessed surface features in at least one of the inner and outer race cage lands.

Dynamically-lubricated bearing and method of dynamically lubricating a bearing

Dynamically-lubricated bearings and methods of dynamically lubricating bearings, including bearings used in gas turbine engines. Such a bearing includes an inner race having an inner race groove, an outer race having an outer race groove that opposes the inner race groove, rolling elements disposed between the inner and outer races and in rolling contact with the inner and outer race grooves, and a cage disposed between the inner and outer races to maintain separation between the rolling elements. A lubricant is introduced into a cavity between the inner and outer races, and rotation of the inner race relative to the outer race causes air to enter pockets of the cage that contain the rolling elements, which in turn causes the lubricant to exit the cavity of the bearing.
