A method of moving material, using a first machine, from a first location to a second location, the second location being a dump bed of a second machine. The method includes determining, by a controller of the first machine, a type of a material to be moved, sending, by the controller of the first machine, the material type to a controller of the second machine, determining, by a controller of the second machine, a load distribution on the dump bed based on the material, determining, by the controller of the second machine, a first position of the dump bed at which a first dump should be unloaded from the first machine, and sending, by the controller of the second machine, an identification of the first position to the controller of the first machine.

System and method for moving material

A self-propelled work vehicle is provided with work state estimation and associated control techniques. The work vehicle comprises ground engaging units, a work implement configured for controllably working terrain, and various onboard sensors. A controller is functionally linked to at least the one or more onboard sensors and configured to ascertain a first parameter or operation of the work vehicle, determine a work state of the work vehicle, based at least in part on respective input signals from one or more onboard sensors, and generate a control signal for controlling at least a second parameter or operation of the work vehicle, responsive to the ascertained first parameter or operation and the determined work state. The control signals may be provided for proactive adjustments to engine speed, movements of the work implement, movements of the work vehicle itself, etc.

System and method for work state estimation and control of self-propelled work vehicles

An undercarriage clearance system includes a datastore containing undercarriage geometry data including ground clearance data of the undercarriage assembly across a lateral dimension of a wheelbase of the work vehicle; a first sensor configured to collect ground environment data within the vehicle trajectory; and a controller. The controller is configured to: receive the undercarriage geometry data from the datastore; receive the ground environment data from the first sensor; identify an obstacle within the vehicle trajectory; evaluate a height of the identified obstacle and a projected path of the obstacle within the wheelbase of the work vehicle along the vehicle trajectory relative to the undercarriage geometry data to determine an obstacle clearance expectation; and generate an alert command signal based on the determination of the obstacle clearance expectation. A display device is configured to render a display based on the alert command signal representing the obstacle clearance expectation.

Work vehicle undercarriage clearance system and method

A hydraulic system and method for service mode on a work machine is operatively coupled to a cutting element for felling trees. The hydraulic system comprises a hydraulic motor, a hydraulic pump, a feed actuator, a feed line, a directional control valve, a voltage battery, and a controller. The hydraulic motor is coupled to the hydraulic circuit for operating the cutting element. The hydraulic pump is operable to supply pressurized fluid to the hydraulic motor. The feed actuator extends or retracts the cutting element. The feed line is coupled to the hydraulic actuator. The directional control valve is located on the feed line of the feed actuator. The controller receives a cutting element service mode signal, moves the directional control valve to pressure the feed line for extending the cutting element where the valve is powered by the voltage battery upon receiving the cutting element service mode signal.

System and method to service a cutting element in work machine

A method for a tree processing head to harvest a tree includes initiating a cutting operation on a tree, the cutting operation including powering a cutting chain of a saw bar driven by a motor; securing the tree; moving the saw bar via an actuator, the saw bar configured to be moved from a home position to a first position and to a second position, and the first position and the second position defining a cutting zone; detecting a hydraulic pressure of at least one of the motor and the actuator by a sensor; determining whether the second position is reached based upon a decrease of the hydraulic pressure by a controller; and transmitting a resting signal to the tree processing head to perform a resting operation when the controller determines that the second position is reached.

Tree processing system

A tree processing system may include a tree processing head and a controller. The tree processing head may include a header frame, a motor, a saw, an arm, and a sensor. The saw is used to cut a tree when the saw is driven by the motor. The saw engages with the tree from a first position and to a second position. The first position and the second position define a cutting zone therebetween. The sensor is used to detect a saw operation speed or current. The controller is coupled to the sensor and configured to determine whether the second position is reached based upon an increase of the saw operation speed or current detected by the sensor. When the second position is reached, the controller transmits a resting signal to the tree processing head to perform a resting operation.

A work machine controller that is coupled to the boom assembly may comprise of a controller with a memory that stores computer-executable instructions and a processor that executes instructions. The instructions include monitoring a first position signal from the first boom position sensor, a second position signal from the second boom position sensor, the load signal, and the orientation signal. The instructions then include calculating a load vector based on the load signal and the orientation signal, generating a disorientation signal based on the load vector and a direction of travel, determining if the disorientation signal is outside a predetermined threshold, and actuating one or more of the actuators and the ground-engaging mechanism to reorient the load when the disorientation signal exceeds the predetermined threshold.
