Techniques for controlling reactivation of service functions are described. Implementations, for example, enable various ways of controlling and storing service objects that provide service functions.

Reactivation of service objects using call back address for a communication event

A service is delivered by a computer system comprising a processor, a memory accessible to the processor and computer storage. The memory holds code which defines service object classes. The service object classes are configured to provide service functions, and the service object classes are instantiated to create service objects which implement the service functions. For each service object, an associated service object identifier is generated in the memory which distinguishes that service object from any other service object. The service objects are serialized to generate serialized data, the serialized data comprising a representation of each service object, and the representation comprising that service object's service object identifier, that service object's associated state data and the service object identifier of any other service object referenced by that service object. Following deactivation, the service objects can be recreated by following the chain of references.

Controlling service functions in response to service instigation and service reactivation messages

Architecture for providing a superuser privilege in a conferencing environment. A pre-configured entity such as a bot program receives special conferencing privileges. A request can be identified as originating from a trusted service and an associated predetermined set of privileges passed to the service. The trusted service can impersonate a user, and join a conference using its own identity or using the identity of a user. Conference control rules can be enforced on the trusted user (e.g., no other users can eject or mute this entity). Moreover, the trusted service can (optionally) hide itself from the conference roster to remain invisible to all participants.

Enabling trusted conferencing services

Disclosed are methods and devices (e.g. servers) for establishing a real-time communication event between a user of a client device and another user of another client device via a communication network. A message pertaining to the communication event (e.g. to a communication event establishment procedure) includes multiple options pertaining to the communication event and, for each of the multiple options, a different network address unique to that option which can be accessed to select that option.

Effecting communication events

Resilient routing management approaches are provided based on primary/backup and failover/failback relationships in a clustered network environment, where each user and/or resource is assigned to a primary cluster and at least one backup cluster. A distributed handover mechanism enables global knowledge of primary/backup relationships between clusters and their assigned users or resources.

Resilient routing for session initiation protocol based communication systems

Voice call continuity is provided for calls that are carried over a hybrid network infrastructure in which access connections are distributed over loosely coupled network portions including a backend network such as a core VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service network, one or more cellular mobile networks, and a public switched telephone network ('PSTN'). The calls are routed through the core VoIP network regardless of their points of origination or termination in other network portions so that signaling and call context are anchored in the core VoIP network. The conditions under which user equipment operate are continuously monitored so that when a connection is determined to have been unacceptably degraded or is likely to be interrupted, and/or a more optimal connection is available, a handover of the call to another connection is initiated so that call continuity is maintained using the lowest cost connection that provides acceptable call quality.

Voice call continuity in hybrid networks

An existing primary data copy can be maintained on an existing primary front end server node. One or more existing secondary data copies can be maintained on one or more existing secondary front end server nodes to minor the existing primary data copy (such as by making synchronous changes to the secondary data copies). One or more existing backup data copies can be maintained on an existing backend server node to mirror the existing primary data copy (such as by making asynchronous changes to the one or more backup data copies). The existing backend server node can be accessible by one or more of the front end nodes. In response to detecting a failure of the existing primary data copy, one of the one or more secondary data copies can be designated as a new primary data copy in place of the existing primary data copy.

Front end and backend replicated storage

Call policy enforcement and routing is based on user location. A plurality of endpoints is provided for receiving and making calls. Each of the plurality of endpoints are assigned a default policy for controlling call authorization and providing call routing rules. A mapping of policies for a plurality of locations is stored. A location of a client associated with one of the plurality of endpoints is identified. A location-based policy is obtained from the stored mapping of policies of the plurality of locations based on the identified location of the client. The obtained location-based policy is applied instead of the default policy assigned to the client associated with one of the plurality of endpoints.

System, method and device for call policy enforcement and routing based on user location

Architecture for a communications system enabling a user to provision a telephone at a new location without network administrative pre-configuring. An input component (e.g., keypad) receives a numeric extension and PIN. The extension is a telephone extension of the user and the PIN can be administratively assigned. A location component provides location information of an enterprise communications server to the telephone based on the extension. The telephone uses the location information to send messages to the enterprise communications server. A registration component registers the telephone with the enterprise communications server based on the numeric extension. A telephony address is returned to the telephone. An authentication component authenticates the telephone based on the PIN. Upon authentication, the extension is assigned to the telephone, and telephone communications can be sent and received from that location.

User-based authentication for realtime communications

Protocol architecture for wiring media streams and specifying mixing behavior in a multipoint control unit. The protocol provides the capability to expose the core mixing algorithms to modification for mixing media without dealing with the functionality of the mixer itself (e.g., ports and IP specifics). The protocol facilitates the wiring of input media streams to output media streams by changing the mixing behavior via changes to the mixing algorithms using the protocol. The protocol operates based on a schema that includes controls related to route, wire, and filter for the mixer input and mixer output.

Media mix wiring protocol for media control

Scaling and highly available clustering for large scale real-time applications is provided. A ring may be formed which includes multiple nodes for providing a set of services in a system. When a network partition is detected which affects communications between each of the nodes in the ring, the formation of additional rings is prevented by shutting down nodes which include a minority of voting nodes in the ring while maintaining the availability of the nodes which include a majority of the voting nodes to continue providing the set of services in the system.

Scalable and highly available clustering for large scale real-time applications

User defined routing rules are managed within a primary/backup architecture through continuous replication between home servers and their corresponding presence servers in an automatic manner. User set-up rules are stored and published by a designated presence server to home servers on which the user can register including the user's home registrar and any backup registrars. Changes to the rules may be disseminated and synchronized through comparison of versions and exchange of batches between the presence server and registrars.

Continuous replication for session initiation protocol based communication systems

A communication system has a plurality of collections. Each collection comprises a security boundary within which private data is accessible. Each collection is associated with a director. The directors receive messages that specify domains. When a director for a given collection receives a message, the director identifies one of the collections as being a home collection for the domain specified by the message. If the specified domain's home collection is the given collection or another collection within a given privacy boundary, the director forwards the message to a server pool associated with the specified domain's home collection. Otherwise, if the specified domain's home collection is not within the given privacy boundary, the director forwards the message to the director of the specified domain's home collection.

Directing messages based on domain names

A hybrid Unified Communications (UC) telephony deployment includes users of a tenant that are hosted between a UC cloud deployment and a UC on-premise deployment that offers PSTN connectivity for the users. An identity of a tenant and its' users are maintained consistently between the on-premise and cloud based UC deployment (e.g. telephone numbers, dialing preferences, voice mail . . . ). Each user of the tenant can register with the UC service from one or more locations (e.g. on-premise, off-premise . . . ) whether or not they are hosted by the on-premise deployment or the cloud based UC deployment. Functionality of the UC deployment may also be maintained at one or more locations within the hybrid UC deployment. For example, some services (e.g. voicemail, or other services) can be hosted in the cloud while the remaining services are hosted on-premise. Different Telco providers may be chosen by the tenant to provide PSTN services for one or more users of the tenant.
