An apparatus includes a pocket portion disposed on production tubing, the pocket portion defining a volume therewithin, wherein the volume is in fluid communication with an interior of the production tubing. The pocket portion includes a valve arrangement that permits unidirectional fluid flow between a tubing-casing annulus and the volume. The apparatus also includes a pressure bleeder configured to be selectively mounted within the pocket portion. The pressure bleeder is configured to permit fluid flow between the valve arrangement and the interior of the production tubing only above a predetermined threshold pressure. A related method includes: providing the pocket portion and valve arrangement; mounting the pressure bleeder within the pocket portion; and, with the pressure bleeder, permitting fluid flow between the valve arrangement and the interior of the production tubing only above a predetermined threshold pressure.

Wireline retrievable annular pressure bleeder

A system for monitoring tubing during feeding into a conduit includes a collar, a plurality of sensors, and a computer system. The collar is positioned around the tubing. The sensors include ultrasonic transducers and fingers oriented radially inward from the collar. The computer system is configured to measure the outer dimensions and thickness of the tubing using the fingers and ultrasonic transducers respectively as well as trigger alerts based off of the measurements of thickness and outer dimensions of the tubing. The system for monitoring tubing further includes a tubing feed system. The tubing feed system includes tubing, an injector head, and conduit. The injector head feeds the tubing into the conduit under control of the computer.

A subsurface safety valve includes an outer housing, a flapper valve disposed within the outer housing, and a motor that pivotally displaces the flapper valve. The subsurface safety valve also includes a battery that powers the motor, a turbine that charges the battery and a wireless receiver that, responsive to a received signal, transmits a signal to the motor to pivotally displace the flapper valve. A related method includes: providing a subsurface safety valve having an outer housing; disposing a flapper valve within the outer housing; providing a motor, a battery, a turbine and a wireless receiver; charging the battery with the turbine; powering the motor with the battery; receiving a signal at the wireless receiver; and responsive to the received signal, transmitting a signal to the motor to pivotally displace the flapper valve.

Sub-surface safety valve with energy harvesting system and wireless activation

A system includes a bridge plug for isolating a section of a wellbore. The bridge plug includes a cylindrical body and an engagement assembly mounted to an outer diameter of the cylindrical body and selectively extendible between a recessed position and an extended position. The system further includes a plug assembly for regulating flow through the cylindrical body of the bridge plug. The plug assembly includes a housing connected to the cylindrical body of the bridge plug, a frangible component that creates a seal within the housing, and a pin disposed within the housing and designed to fracture the frangible component.
