Systems and methods are provided for displaying differential ground speed for traffic surrounding an aircraft. The system includes an aircraft control panel in a cockpit of an ownship aircraft and a digital traffic display located on the control panel. The digital traffic display provides cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI) that shows a speed scale with a graphical display of the ground speed of the ownship aircraft and the ground speed of traffic to follow (TTF). The separation scale also shows a graphical display of a separation distance between the ownship aircraft and the TTF. A change in separation distance is calculated based of the difference in ground speed between the ownship aircraft and the TTF. An advisory/warning indicator that shows a color-coded status of the change in separation distance in comparison a pre-determined desired separation distance between the ownship aircraft and the TTF.

System and method to display differential ground speed on a cockpit display

Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying traffic to follow, TTF, on a display device. TTF, identification data identifying a vehicle to follow is received. Transmitted data is received from the vehicle to follow. Aircraft attribute data for the vehicle to follow is derived at least from the transmitted data and from target model data from a target model database. The aircraft attribute data includes position, orientation and aircraft dimensions. Enhanced vision system, EVS, imaging data is received from at least one EVS camera. An area of the EVS imaging data to be visually distinguished to highlight the traffic to follow is calculated. The area calculated is based on the aircraft attribute data including position, orientation and aircraft dimensions. Image processing is performed on the area of the EVS imaging data to visually distinguish the area so as to highlight the vehicle to follow, thereby providing highlighted EVS imaging data. A display is generated based on the EVS imaging data and the highlighted EVS imaging data.

Aircraft display systems and methods for identifying target traffic

An avionics system and method is provided that de-clutters an image on a cockpit display system on a host aircraft, thus increasing a pilot's situational awareness. The avionics display system comprises a processor and a display system. The processor is coupled to the display system, a user input device, and a plurality of sources of information layers. When the de-clutter process is enabled, a filter parameter is applied to a selected information layer, and a graphic display of the filtered information layer is provided. The adjustable filter parameter can be applied to any of the information layers displayed on the cockpit display system.

System and method for decluttering an image on a cockpit display system

A method for providing an aircraft display includes the steps of receiving an indication of a current position and altitude of the aircraft, receiving air traffic information for another aircraft within a predetermined range of the current position of the aircraft, and determining whether an element of the traffic information for the another aircraft is missing from the received air traffic information. If an element is missing, the method further includes beginning a timer to determine a length of time that the element is missing. Still further, the method includes the step of, after a predetermined time has elapsed that the element is missing according to the timer, displaying an indication of the another aircraft along with the length of time that the element is missing.

Systems and methods for displaying degraded intruder traffic data on an aircraft display

An aircraft system for an own-ship aircraft includes an ADS-B unit configured to receive ADS-B messages with flight information from other aircraft over a plurality of time periods, the other aircraft including a first aircraft. The system further includes a database configured to store at least a portion of the flight information associated with the other aircraft over the plurality of time periods. The system further includes a processing unit configured to compare the flight information for a current time period to the flight information for a previous time period to identify missing flight information from the current time period relative to the previous time period, the missing flight information including the flight information associated with the first aircraft, and initiate an annunciation to an operator of the own-ship aircraft based on the missing flight information associated with the first aircraft.

Aircraft systems and methods to monitor proximate traffic

A system and method capable of responding to an audible traffic alert by visually depicting the identified neighboring aircraft traffic on the onboard display is presented. The system and method employ speech recognition in order to minimize the visual and manual cognitive workload associated with responding to a traffic alert. The system and method maximize the pilot's hands-on control of the host aircraft.

Systems and methods for voice enabled traffic prioritization

Methods and apparatus are provided for traffic prioritization of surrounding air traffic for display onboard an aircraft. The apparatus includes a traffic data source configured to supply surrounding traffic data. The apparatus includes a traffic control module coupled to receive user selection data from the user input device and the surrounding traffic data. The traffic control module can be configured to determine a prioritization zone for prioritizing the surrounding air traffic to identify air traffic preceding the aircraft based on the user selection data, the range and the vertical speed of the surrounding air traffic, and set first traffic data that includes the surrounding air traffic within the prioritization zone listed by priority and second traffic data that includes the surrounding air traffic outside of the prioritization zone listed in received sequence. The apparatus displays a graphical user interface that includes the first traffic and the second traffic data.

Systems and methods for traffic prioritization

A system and method is provided for displaying ITP opportunities on an onboard display device of a host aircraft flying at a first flight level. Flight status data of the host aircraft and at least a first neighboring aircraft flying at a second flight level is obtained and processed to determine a first predicted time within which an ITP transition through the second flight level to a desired flight level can be made. A graphical representation of the host aircraft, the neighboring aircraft, and the first predicted time is rendered on the onboard display device.

System and method for displaying in-trail procedure (ITP) opportunities on an aircraft cockpit display

A system and method for displaying degraded traffic data from an intruder aircraft on an ITP display is provided. The method includes determining if the degraded traffic data exhibits navigational accuracy sufficient for display on the ITP display, and analyzing the degraded traffic data to determine the ITP parameters for similar track traffic and to determine if the navigational accuracy of the degraded traffic data is within predefined bounds if the navigational accuracy of the degraded traffic is not sufficient for display on the ITP display.
