A mixture contains polymer particles along with solids or fibers that can be utilized in press felts (or fabrics) for the press section of a papermaking machine and a method of making the mixtures are described.

A pinseam press fabric is smoothed in the area of the seam by depositing polyurethane particles having a size of about 1 to 500 micrometers across the seam of the felt defined by the ends of the fabric. The polyurethane particles are drawn into the seam end by the application of a vacuum. Once the particles are deposited, the fabric is heated so that the polyurethane particles melt to form a polymeric matrix.

A method of joining two ends of a fabric for use in a paper machine, carried out using a joining assembly, includes the steps of: placing a first end of the fabric on a first portion of a pin plate, the pins in the first portion of the pin plate extending into the first end; placing a second end of the fabric on a second portion of the pin plate such that the first end and the second end are in close proximity to each other in a join area, the pins in the second portion of the pin plate extending into the second end; and joining the first end and the second end in the join area. The method results in a perforated (and therefore permeable) join area.

Method and joining assembly for joining ends of a fabric in a paper machine

An endless fabric belt subjected to a substantial running tension. The belt has an endless woven fabric formed from a plurality of MD (machine direction) ultra high molecular weight polymer strands approaching zero creep at high tensile loads. A plurality of CMD (cross machine direction) strands are interwoven with the MD strands. The plurality of MD strands have first and second ends spliced to one another to form an endless belt, the splices forming a significant linear MD overlap of about 30 cm with each other.

A through air dryer (TAD) fabric having a composite configuration whereby side fabric portions made of a more resistant material are woven to the main body portion of the fabric. Side fabric portions that are not protected from the paper web, and therefore exposed to harsher environmental conditions than the portion of the fabric covered by the paper web, deteriorate faster. By replacing the side portions that are exposed to harsher environment with more resistant material, the TAD fabric will last longer.

A pintle for joining the ends of a pin-seamable paper machine fabric wherein the pintle comprises a braided sheath of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene yarn and optionally is filled with polyamide monofilament or polyethylene yarn. The pintle is configured to substantially fill the voids in the fabric loops when inserted so that a smoother seam is achieved that significantly reduces marks on the resultant paper.

A through-air dryer (TAD) fabric formed by interweaving of a warp yarn system with a weft yarn system. The TAD fabric has a paper side with a contact area between 20% and 30%. The warp yarn system includes flat warp yarns and/or the weft yarn system includes flat weft yarns which have not been subjected to a sanding process after weaving of the fabric and which have an aspect ratio of 1.15:1 to 1.35:1.

A polyester composition comprising from 90 to 97% by weight of at least one polyester derived from the condensation of 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol and at least one dicarboxylic acid or an ester thereof, from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one primary anti-oxidant defined as an alkyl and/or alkyl peroxy radical scavenger, from 0.1 to 5% by weight of at least one secondary anti-oxidant defined as a compound capable of decomposing a hydroperoxide, from 1 to 4% by weight of at least one polyamide terpolymer. Utility of such a composition includes use in a monofilament yarn or fiber, use in a papermachine clothing including such a monofilament yarn or fiber and/or including the polyester composition.

An industrial textile including a polymeric substrate and a resin system grafted onto the polymeric substrate by way of a primer. The resin system includes a water-borne thermoplastic, a polyhydroxyether resin and/or an analogue of a polyhydroxyether resin, and at least one co-resin.

A pintle wire comprises a polymer material containing a lubricant material of schistose nature. The polymer material comprises polyamide, polyester, copolyester, polyetheretherketone or polyphenylene sulphide. The schistose lubricant comprise graphite, molybdenum sulphide, cobalt sulphide, clay or silicate.
