An apparatus having both a Bluetooth-compatible transceiver and a cellular-telephony transceiver has a control circuit operably coupled to the foregoing configured to facilitate at least one on-board application using voice-based user input. The control circuit, upon determining that a call-setup message as received via the Bluetooth-compatible transceiver specifies a particular predetermined number (such as a predetermined number that comprises an invalid number to serve as a telephone number) to call, automatically uses audio content received via the Bluetooth-compatible transceiver as the aforementioned voice-based user input for that on-board application. By one approach, the apparatus can provide that predetermined number to a given secondary platform as part of a conveyed contacts list.

A method and device for securing image data detected by an electronic device is provided. The electronic may include a camera. In one aspect, a method includes: capturing image data using the camera; based on the captured image data, detecting a security marker displayed by a display device, the security marker being periodically displayed to be undetectable by a human eye that is viewing the display device; and in response to determining that the security marker is detected by the electronic device, applying a security policy to the image data captured by the electronic device.

A mobile wireless communications device may include a near field communication (NFC) transceiver, a Bluetooth transceiver, and a controller coupled with the NFC transceiver and the Bluetooth transceiver. The controller may be configured to communicate with a first Bluetooth device via the Bluetooth transceiver using at least one Bluetooth profile supported by the first Bluetooth device, communicate with a second Bluetooth device via the NFC transceiver and determine if the at least one Bluetooth profile is also supported by the second Bluetooth device, and when the at least one Bluetooth profile is also supported by the second Bluetooth device, cease using the at least one Bluetooth profile with the first Bluetooth device and begin using the at least one Bluetooth profile with the second Bluetooth device.

An apparatus receives a first wireless message via a first wireless transceiver, which first wireless message includes a content payload. The apparatus categorizes this first wireless message (for example, with respect to service type, a specific service, and/or a communication thread) and transmits, via a second wireless transceiver, a second message that includes the categorization information but not all (or necessarily even any) of the content payload. Upon then receiving, via that second wireless transceiver, a corresponding third message the apparatus determines a need to forward the content payload via that second wireless transceiver.
