For instance, a network device may receive an application data packet of a data flow for an application. In response to receiving the application data packet, the network device may assign the data flow to a first link of a plurality of links and initiate a probing process for the data flow on the first link to determine one or more quality of experience (QoE) metrics for the first link. The network device may, at a later time, detect that the data flow is no longer being received. In response to detecting that the data flow is no longer being received, the network device may cease the probing process for the data flow on the first link.

On-demand probing for quality of experience metrics

In general, the disclosure describes techniques for assigning traffic originating from an unknown application to a link based on known application quality of experience metrics. For instance, a network device may receive an application data packet of a data flow for an application and determine an application signature of the application data packet. The network device may determine whether the application signature matches an entry in an application signature database, and if the application signature does not match, the network device may identify a class of the application based on one or more characteristics of the application data packet. The network device may then assign the application data packet of the data flow to a first link of a plurality of links based on the class of the application and quality of experience (QoE) metrics for each link.

Satisfying service level agreement metrics for unknown applications

In general, the disclosure describes techniques for evaluating application quality of experience metrics over a software-defined wide area network. For instance, a network device may receive an application data packet of a data flow for an application and send a first set of probe packets, configured according to an initial probing profile, over each of one or more links. The network device may monitor the data flow to determine one or more characteristics of the data flow and generate an updated probing profile based on the one or more characteristics of the data flow. The network device may then send a second set of one or more probe packets, configured according to the updated probing profile, over each of the one or more links.

Real-time application-driven synthetic probing

The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for managing a guest virtual machine executing within a virtualized environment. A daemon is established on a guest virtual machine executing within a virtualized environment. The daemon is configured to communicate with a management service virtual machine executing within the virtualized environment. The daemon receives, from the management service virtual machine via an application layer protocol, a request identifying an action type of a plurality of predetermined action types. The daemon identifies the action type of the plurality of predetermined action types from the received request and performs an action corresponding to the identified action type. In some implementations, the application layer protocol is one of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) or Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS).

Systems and methods for managing a guest virtual machine executing within a virtualized environment

Techniques are described for performing subscriber aware two-way active measurement protocol (TWAMP) data session provisioning between two endpoints in a computer network. For example, the disclosed techniques include extending TWAMP control messaging to include a communication mode for negotiating subscriber-aware TWAMP data monitoring. If the communication mode is supported by both endpoints, a subscriber identifier is specified when a TWAMP data session is provisioned (negotiated) over the control session. The disclosed techniques further include extending TWAMP data messaging to include the subscriber identifier in each test packet for the data session. In this way, each of the endpoints may identify a subscriber corresponding to one or more received TWAMP test packets based on the subscriber identifier included in the received TWAMP test packets.

Subscriber-aware TWAMP data monitoring in computer networks

The present application is directed towards systems and methods for providing user interfaces for management applications via a definition-based graphical user interface (GUI) framework for developing web based management applications for servers, intermediaries, routers, wide area network (WAN) accelerators, caches, switches, or any other type and form of computing device. The plug-in free framework reduces the server's resource consumption and bandwidth by making a full use of resources available on the client computing device or browser. A complete web application can be developed using JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) definitions along with a representational state transfer (REST) based application programming interface (API) efficiently using the framework, which may comprise light-weight pure JavaScript or similar executable code. In many embodiments, the framework may be layered in a model-view-controller (MVC) architecture easing resource consumption, maintenance and extensibility.

Systems and methods for providing a visualizer for rules of an application firewall

The present invention is directed towards systems and methods of providing management of network services provided by an intermediary device managing traffic between a plurality of clients and servers. The intermediary device may include one or more virtual servers managing a plurality of services. A user can invoke a visualizer tool of the intermediary device to identify a configuration and an operational status of the virtual servers and services managed by the virtual servers. The visualizer tool may also determine from the configuration two or more services having a common set of configuration properties and managed by a first virtual server. The visualizer tool may establish a service container comprising these services. The visualizer tool may display via an interface a graphical representation of the configuration and the operational status of the first virtual server and the service container identifying the common set of configuration properties of these services.

The present solution is directed towards embodiments of a feature generally referred to as Application Templates or AppTemplates, which allows a administrator of an intermediary, such as an appliance, to configure and manage settings per application on a basis of a subset of application network traffic.
