The automatic determination of components for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), and more specifically the automatic determination of the Gate Duration (GD) and Guard Band (GB) for TSN may be provided. To determine the GB and/or GD for a TSN gate, a Time Error (TE) may be determined, and TSN components may be received. An Access Category (AC) and a per-AC Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) state may be determined using the TID, wherein the per-AC EDCA includes a Contention Window (CW) minimum. Next, an Arbitration Interframe Space Number (AIFSN) of an upcoming data unit is determined using the using the AC and per-AC EDCA. The GB may be determined based on the AIFSN, the CW minimum, and the TE. The Gate Duration (GD) may be determined based on the TE and calculating a number of symbols in a MAC Protocol Data Unit (MPDU) and the upcoming data unit.

Automatic determination of components for time sensitive networking

Time synchronization distribution in a network may be provided. Time synchronization may be performed by an Access Point (AP) with a plurality of client devices. Next, based on information received from performing the time synchronization with the plurality of client devices, it may be determined that a first client device of the plurality of client devices is a representative client device. Then, for a predetermined time period, time synchronization with the first client device and not with others of the plurality of client devices may be performed. The data associated with the time synchronization with the first client device may be broadcast to others of the plurality of client devices.

Time synchronization distribution in a network

A method includes determining whether a first access point of a plurality of access points and a second access point of the plurality of access points should communicate simultaneously over a shared channel in a first network and in response to determining that one of the plurality of access points won contention of a transmission opportunity for the shared channel, dividing the transmission opportunity into a plurality of time slots. The method also includes scheduling transmissions of the first and second access points into the plurality of time slots according to the determination whether the first and second access points should communicate simultaneously over the shared channel and communicating, to the second access point and over a wired network or a second network different from the first network, an indication of whether the second access point should communicate during a first time slot of the plurality of time slots.

Over-the-wire access point coordination

A host clock value may be provided to a client device. An Access Point (AP) may obtain a Timing Synchronization Function (TSF)-based time stamp. Next, the TSF-based time stamp may be placed in an Information Element (IE) that was intended to contain follow up information. The IE may then be transmitted.

Providing a clock value to a client device

Techniques for uplink scheduling in a wireless network are disclosed. A wireless access point (AP) receives, from a wireless station (STA), a buffer status report (BSR) reflecting data accumulated at the STA for uplink to the AP. The AP identifies, based on the BSR, a scheduling mode under which the data was accumulated at the STA. The AP schedules an uplink parameter for the STA, based on the identified scheduling mode. The uplink parameter relates to at least one of: (i) an uplink transmission for the STA or (ii) a buffer status poll for the STA. The AP transmits, to the STA, an allocation relating to the scheduled uplink parameter for the STA.

State responsive uplink OFDMA scheduling

A method includes receiving, at an access point, a buffer status report from a device wirelessly connected to the access point. The buffer status report indicates a queue depth of the device and a head of line delay for the device. The method further includes scheduling uplink resources at the access point for the device based on the queue depth and the head of line delay.

Delay-responsive uplink scheduling

An electronic device that dynamically adapts RTS-CTS protection is described. During operation, this electronic device may obtain communication parameters associated with communication in a WLAN, which includes the electronic device and a second electronic device. For example, the communication parameters may include a collision probability, a PPDU airtime, an RTS airtime, a SIFS airtime and/or a CTS airtime. Then, the electronic device may determine an RTS-CTS performance metric based at least in part on the communication parameters. For example, the RTS-CTS performance metric may be based at least in part on the collision probability, the RTS airtime, the SIFS airtime, and/or the CTS airtime. Next, the electronic device may compare the RTS-CTS performance metric and the PPDU airtime. Moreover, based at least in part on the comparison, the electronic device may selectively use RTS-CTS protection during communication of a PPDU with the second electronic device.

Adapting RTS-CTS protection in a WLAN

Location-aware spatial reuse may be provided. First, an Overlapping Basic Service Set (OBSS) transmission to be received at a device may be detected by a first Access Point (AP). Then the location of the device may be determined. Next, based on the determined location, it may be determined that the device is out of range of the first AP. Then, in response to determining that the device is out of range of the first AP, the first AP may perform an OBSS Packet Detect (PD) based Spatial Reuse (SR) transmission without reducing a transmit (Tx) power for the transmission.
